It didn't let me tag you for this one. I think it's a difficulty on my behalf.
"'Cause we could stay at home and watch the sunset, but I can't help from asking 'Are you bored yet?'" Silver Pearl Cookie sang as he strutted out to eat dinner with Clotted Cream. Clotted Cream. There's more to him than I can say. His smile. His love for other people's well-being. Silver Pearl's thoughts occupied him for two seconds before Clotted called out his name.
"Pearlie! Pearlie!" Clotted called. "Desert's ready!"
"Coming!" Silver Pearl hurried and helped Light Cream Cookie set the table for the dinner.
The table looked to be nice, ligneous and mahogany in color, and made of oak wood. The aluminum plates and forks were set in an oddly satisfying way, and the meal was hot, ready, and fresh out of the oven. It was a plateful of humongous scones, each ready to dip in a luxurious sauce. In a good time, you can always expect the unexpected, but don't expect someone to always be a party pooper. Custard Cookie, Clotted Cream's dad, was one of those people to always bring things down, with politics being one of his many 'dinner downs' to talk about. This time, it wasn't politics, it was relationship advice. Don't get me wrong here, Custard wanted more Cookies down the family line, and the only thing that didn't make sense was Clotted Cream dating someone when both him and the dater were too young.
"Clotted Cream, why do you go and date someone when you are a little young to be dating?" Custard Cookie asked Clotted Cream.
"Father, I don't think that people should date until they are fourteen." He answered, fully aware of what would come next.
"I know you think that, but that's not what I think."
"Fair point. Silver Pearl may seem like an enemy, but he's actually really sweet when you come to terms with him otherwise."
"I can tell. I can really tell." Custard Cookie replied, almost sarcastically. Custard's tough-as-nails personality didn't mesh well with Clotted Cream's diplomatic and consular one.
"Father, I am perfectly fine with whom my lover is and when I should date." Clotted Cream declared, rebelling for the first time in his life. He knew not to do so, but this time he just couldn't let himself go.
"That's it. Son, after this, no more dates until you are sixteen years of age!" Clotted knew that Custard meant to manipulate him into his dating rules all along, so after dinner, he went to his room to cool down. Silver Pearl was staying for the night, and Clotted Cream noticed he was gone.
"I may as well look for him right now, as I have nothing better to do anyway. Pearlie? Silver Pearl? Found you!" He took a sharp look and noticed that Silver Pearl was hiding to the right of his door, curled up in a little ball, just because he thought he didn't feel welcome. "What's wrong? I've been thinking, but you don't have an answer." Clotted Cream quoted. 'Are You Bored Yet' seemed like a perfect song for the two's relationship, so Silver Pearl added it to his playlist titled, 'Him', which was filled with songs like that.
"Well, I just feel like-" Silver Pearl tried to speak, but Clotted butted in with something he knew would be fit.
"Like an outsider compared to this inside family?" Clotted Cream said.
"That's the exact metaphor I was looking for! You see, I forgot to tell your dad something that he probably wouldn't want to know anyway." Silver Pearl stated.
"What is it?"
"You see, I'm the biological son of Black Pearl Cookie." He muttered, feeling confident to get it off his chest.
"I knew that name sounded familiar. I guess you learn something new every day." Clotted Cream paused, and continued. "You know what? Let me see your phone." He asked. Silver Pearl half-reluctantly gave up his phone to Clotted Cream.
"Okay then. Don't do nothing stupid with it."
"I won't do anything like that! Trust me." He scrolled through a playlist that he knew Silver Pearl made, and clicked the 'add' button. That 'Him' playlist, to be exact, was the one he put the song on. "Here's one to add. 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' by Joy Division."
"Huh? 'Love Will Tear Us Apart?' How so?" Silver Pearl curiously asked.
"Well, me loving you tore my father's mental veil over a dumb dating date, so this technically could break our bond as lovers for a while."
"You're right. Come here." The two hugged it out while listening to those lyrics about love that makes a person feel guilty but good that they love the other.
"Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through our lives"
Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division, 1980. Written by Bernard Summer, Stephen Morris, Peter Hook, and Ian Curtis. I do not own this song. I just used it for a fic.
(Note to requester: Sorry this fic took so long to write! I had other fanfics that I wanted to write, including an AU. My motivation just got a hold of me, and if it does again whenever anyone requests a fanfic, it's that to blame.)
