Snowflakes floated gracefully from the darkening sky, not that it could be helped with the gray clouds obscuring clear blue. You were back at Hogwarts, for your second year, yet you were in the fourth as of classes and age. It wasn't even the end of the year and things had already gotten crazy, the Tri-wizard tournaments were screwed up royally, or at least in your opinion. It wasn't the Goblet's fault, even though normally you'd love to blame magical objects for shortcomings in the world, just glance at your first year outburst at those poor shoes. It was Potter's idea to stick his name in there, wasn't it? That's what Draco had complained about since the choosing, at least, so it had to be true. No not really, but you had heard the same spiel ten times over so your brain was starting to make it a possibility.
Harry Potter was chosen for the Tri-wizard tournaments, for one he's not of age to participate, two he was the fourth champion, making the representatives uneven. That was the part you didn't think was fair, but . . . life wasn't fair as you had experienced bitterly.
You didn't even have to worry about the Yule Ball, since it didn't concern you in the least, which made you happy. You weren't the kind of girl to get worked up over social events like a party. You never worried about what your hair, clothing or makeup anyways, why should a get-together change that? Besides, you didn't plan on getting invited so, you were in the safe zone.
The Yule Ball was only hosted when the Tri-Wizard tournaments came about, and it was tradition for the champions to dance with whoever went with them. You really thought it was stupid, like one of those muggle prom's, only less frequent.
You were still happy though, it was snowing right now, cloaking the grounds in beautiful white blankets. Light fragments catching the uniquely designed bits of ice and twinkling like stars in the night atmosphere, it was just breath taking to you. Christmas was also coming, which was always a jolly time, despite the outside world.
Leaning your elbows on the cold grey stone, your (E/C) eyes watched the weather from behind the frosted pane of glass. It was peaceful, watching the wind sway the frozen rain back and forth in a steady pattern.
"Fancy meeting you here, kitten," A monotone purred from behind you, as you felt someone join you at the windowsill.
"Whatever," You rolled your eyes, but a lopsided smile spread across your face. "What brings you here, Dragon boy?"
"Well, I just saw a pretty girl standing all by herself, and decided to come keep her company," He shot you one of those infamous smirks of his, the ones that made you smile despite the situation. Scoffing, you shouldered him lightly to show you didn't appreciate the comment. Or did you appreciate it?
Draco could just come out and say it, right now was the perfect time. Just eight little words, but they were so difficult to say. What if you laughed or rejected him? What if someone had already asked you? This was harder than he thought, he expected it to be easy. Just swoop in beside you and talk to you as he normally did, he didn't have a problem with that. No, no, that's not how it worked, it took him what felt like hours to even walk up to your lone form, let alone ask you out.
The hallway was pretty much deserted here, everyone was either studying, sleeping, or outside in the snow, but this outside area seemed to be deserted of other kids. He assumed that's why you were here, enjoying the natural beauty of the outside. It sure made him look like less of an idiot.
