"Hey Josh!" Mason greeted him everyday at school at the same spot "hey Mason!" he always said back.. Usually he would come over and hangout with him. But this time he was with a girl. And that made Mason's blood boil. "Ain't you gonna hangout with me?" Josh asked, trying to make him stay with him "Sorry dude! I'm showing Kate around. I'll see you later though" KATE... so that was her name.. And she was new here. Which was even worse because she could have a better chance with him.. Mason thought. But he would never let that happen. "O-Oh.. well.. That's okay! I'll see you later joshy!" he could hear the girl laugh and tease him about that nickname Mason gave him which made him even more jealous. He tried calming himself down so he could make it through the day.. Besides, He did say he was gonna hangout with him.. And that's all he wanted. Was to be around his true love.. Few classes went by and still.. No sign of Josh. It made him sad but also worried that maybe he was in trouble. Finally lunch came and Mason finally saw Josh and he came and sat by him. "Hey dude! Sorry I didn't come to hang sooner.. Me and Kate were having a great time!"

Mason didn't like hearing that at all. "Enough of her!" he changed the convo and started talking once more.. "Let's talk about you joshy!" he let out a smile which made Josh blush a bit.. "Hehe.. well..-" he was interrupted by kate. She came and sat herself down and started talking to Josh mid conversation with Mason. And he talked back, not even caring about what she did. "What is she doing here!?" Mason angrily asked, trying not to sound so angry. But he was honestly fed up with her and Josh right now. "Relax dude.. She's just sitting here because she has no one else to sit with.." Josh sounded a little offended and Kate sat there quietly looking a little guilty. "Fine! Have fun with her." Mason got up and threw his lunch away and went to sit by the bathrooms. His hunger was already ruined by how lovey dovey they were together. He couldn't stand another minute sitting with them. Josh tried to get him to sit back down but it was no use. "I'll go talk to him" Kate insisted she did feel like she was ruining a lot of their friendship.

Considering she knew they were best friends since 3rd grade and she didn't want to break them apart. She tried looking for him the best she could but it took her a good half of lunch time mainly because she still had no idea how to get around this place. But she eventually found him on the ground with his face covered. She felt even worse but she built up the courage to go up to him "hey.. Mason..?" Kate quietly said. Mason didn't need to look up to know who it was. He didn't want her near him so he yelled at her to go away. Instead of doing what was told she sat beside him you could hear him sniffle and try to wipe his tears off. "Look, I'm really sorry for all I've caused. I hope I didn't get in between your friendship."

Mason finally looked up at her but not in a forgiving way. He looked more angry than ever. "Did she really think I would forgive her?" he thought in his mind. Soon Mason actually said something "I really don't care. You can have him as your boyfriend or whatever." he really regretted saying that but all Kate could do was laugh. Which brought a concerning look on Mason's face. "What's so funny..?" he asked "Boyfriend?" she said, still laughing. "Did he not tell you we are siblings?" Mason's eyes shot up "Sister!? How have I not met you?" he asked, still not really believing her. "Well im his step-sister to be honest. We've recently met as a family like a year ago." Mason could not believe it. Josh had a sister this whole time and never told him? Now he felt more mad at Josh then her. "Why did he not tell me this?" Kate looked down and frowned a bit. "He's.. kinda embarrassed about me. He wanted it to just be him and his mother but his mom met my dad and he's hated him ever since." Mason started to feel really bad for how he's been treating her. "He doesn't hate me or anything. We get along nicely. He just doesn't want anyone knowing that my dad is a part of his family. So he asked me to pretend we are just friends.." she said, still looking down. "Im.. sorry." That was all Mason could say. Was really the only thing Mason should be saying. "Oh no it's fine! He has every reason to hate him."

she said, making eye contact with him. "Why is that?" Mason asked "Lets just say.. My dad hasn't done the best things in life." she laughed a bit "I never meant to make it seem like we were.. Dating." she gagged a bit saying that word "I'm assuming you like him which is why you've been acting so jealous" she ended her sentence with a small smirk. Mason's face turned a deep red "N-No! That's not it at all!" He tried defending himself but Kate spoke over him "You make it pretty obvious.. Well for me. Josh is just blind to love." she laughs again. Mason was relieved at that. He didn't want Josh to know yet. Even if he's loved him for years.

I think im gonna make this an actual story story instead of a short story because this is already way to long to even call a short story anymore 😭 and i know the stories title doesnt really make much sense yet (refering to victim) but that doesnt mean it wont take place soon! 🤭
