Chapter Fourteen - Tap

Noah's pov

"Noah?" I heard my mom call out as I slammed the door shut. As I shoved the shoes off my feet onto the floor I watched her peer around the kitchen door. 

"Honey what's wrong?" Her voice softened as I sniffled and finally allowing my body to slump before slowly making my way to her. I didn't say anything, I only wrapped my arms around her and proceeded to collapse into floods of tears. I could tell she knew what was wrong, moms just know.

I heard a small knock on my bedroom door and it opened revealing my mom. She gave me a small smile before entering,

"Do you want any dinner yet?" Her voice soft. I shook my head and wiped my nose with the sleeve of my sweater. 

"Okay...I have to go to work now but there's some pizza left in the fridge if you want it later?" I nodded in response causing her to sigh,

"Your father's home in an hour okay?" Yet again, I nodded. 

"I love you." She whispered before leaving my room and soon after I heard the front door open then close. 

I rolled over reaching my hand out without looking to find my phone and once I finally grabbed it I sighed seeing a bunch of notifications. A lot were from Gaten. He wasn't there at lunch and I forgot to message him. Apart of me felt that maybe even he knew, I mean Caleb knew but no it's Gaten - my best friend, of course he didn't know or else he would've told me. Some were from Caleb. A couple messages apologizing, telling me to answer so we could talk. And the rest, the rest were from him. 5 missed calls, 20+ messages. 

I swiped onto my phone and immediately opened Gaten's texts;

'Dude where are you?'

'Skipping the presentations? Lmaooo'

'Seriously tho dude, where tf are you?'

'Shit Caleb told me what happened, are you okay?'

'Are you at home?'

'Noah please answer I need to know you're okay??'

The last one was sent an hour ago, I felt bad for not replying.

'Shit sorry, I'm okay - I should've messaged you but yeah I'm home dw.'

I lied. I wasn't okay but I didn't want to worry him. Almost immediately I got a reply.

'Are you sure? Do you want me to come over?'

'No no, honestly I'm fine, my moms here and making me feel better it's okay :)'

I lied, yet again and I knew Gaten would see it but he wouldn't push me. 

Next I moved onto Caleb's messages;

'Noah are you okay??'

'Can we talk, I feel bad and want to explain'

'Noah please'

I sighed. I really did think Caleb and I were becoming good friends but I guess he was in on the bet too. 

'You've known the whole time?' 

I sent back and just like Gaten, he replied immediately. 

'Yes but can I please explain?'

'We'll talk tomorrow or smth.' 

I took a deep breath in preparing for Finn's messages. 

'Noah please let me explain'

'Where are you??'
