Natasha watches with a fond smile as Yelena pulls herself up against the coffee table for the third time today, tiny hands clinging to the wood as she strains to reach for the pacifier Natasha had set there just moments earlier.
"Be careful Yelena," she warns, but the thirteen month old simply looks back at her and sticks out her tongue. Natasha retorts with the same action, and Yelena bounces up and down with a happy giggle as she brings her attention back to the tv.
Yelena was getting more and more curious about the world as each day passes. She could crawl now, and could say at least ten words. Sure they were hardly legible to anybody's ears but her mothers, but Natasha was ecstatic either way.
The thirteen month old was also coming super close to walking. She would pull herself up onto anything she could get her hands on, and she would use that for support, little legs wobbly and unsteady as she tries with all her mouth to walk. She'd yet to actually be successful, but Natasha knew she was getting increasingly close to succeeding.
"Mama!" Yelena babbles, and Natasha looks up to see the little one reaching for her with grabby hands.
The mother stands up and heads over to her, scooping her up into her arms and pressing a resounding kiss to her cheek with a loud 'muwaa'. Yelena giggles as she attempts to return the kiss, nestling against her mothers chest as the woman sits herself down onto the couch.
"I think it's nap time now, huh?" Natasha begins to steadily pat the little ones padded behind, and Yelena's face contorts into a disgruntled frown as she cups Natasha's cheeks and smooshes them together.
Natasha rolls her eyes fondly as she places gentle kisses to her hands, and despite her sudden grumpiness, the baby grins and falls forward against her mothers chest. She mouths at the swell of her breast and lets out a quiet whine. Yelena was in the middle of baby led weening and was loving exploring new foods, but she still heavily relies on nursing for comfort. Natasha didn't mind at all. She would happily nurse the little one until she was ready to wean herself.
She saw no point in forcing it before Yelena was ready.
"Okay okay, I hear you." Natasha soothes, shifting the baby into a cradled position before lifting her shirt. She guides an eager mouth to her breast, and Yelena gets a deep, successful latch before beginning to suckle eagerly. "There we go. All better now." The mother murmurs as she holds the little one close.
Yelena blinks sleepily up at her as her hand clutches Natasha's breast to her face, and the woman smiles fondly as she grazes the backs of her fingers over the soft baby skin of her cheeks. Soon, her eyes flicker closed, but her suckles remain strong and consistent. Despite that, it takes only minutes for her to fall asleep, and soon, Natasha finds herself easing the little one down into her crib.
"Sweet dreams my little love." She murmurs, pressing a tender kiss to the top of her head before slowly making her way out of the room.

Whilst Yelena naps, Natasha takes the time to give the apartment a much needed clean. As a single mother to a baby, housework just wasn't prioritised as much as it could be, and she often finds herself staring at a messy apartment with no idea where to start.
It was why she takes the opportunity to do what she could whilst Yelena naps, though when it to came to bedtime again, it was like she'd never even bothered.
Yelena naps for two hours before she lets out a loud cry signalling she was awake, and as Natasha enters the nursery, she see's the little one sat up in her crib looking awfully pitiful.
"Mama's here," she soothes, grasping her by the armpits and lifting her up into her arms. Yelena nestles against her chest with a quiet whimper, and Natasha nuzzles her own face into Yelena's neck and takes in that oh so addictive baby smell.
"Let's go change your stinky butt, and then we'll get a snack, okay?" She murmurs as she places one last kiss to the baby's forehead before laying her down onto the changing table, and Yelena lets out a quiet whimper as she unhappily kicks her legs.
"Oh i know. It's such hard work being a baby." Natasha coos as she grabs a couple of baby wipes before beginning to wipe the little one clean, disposing of the soiled into the trash can before taping a new one snuggly to her tiny waist.
"There we go," Natasha murmurs after sanitising her hands, scooping the diaper clad baby back up into her arms. Yelena tugs at her shirt with another quiet whimper, and Natasha shifts her position before letting the little one latch on.
With Yelena's snack sorted, Natasha heads into the kitchen to get something to eat herself.

Once again, Yelena was stood in front of the coffee table, eyes glued to the tv screen that was playing miss Rachel. Natasha was on the couch keeping a watchful eye on her, knowing that whilst Yelena was still pretty unsteady on her feet, she had to let the little one be as independent as she could.
As she brings her attention from the tv to the little one, she notices that Yelena was now stood facing her. That was normal. What wasn't normal was the fact she wasn't holding onto anything. One hand was in her mouth, and the other was clutching an alphabet block to her chest.
Cautiously scooting herself forward so she was perched on the edge of the couch, Natasha holds out her arms with a gentle smile on her face.
"Are you gonna walk to mama?" She asks hopefully, and Yelena simply grins at her as she drops the toy and attempts to reach for her.
Natasha, despite her want to go and get her baby, remains seated, "Come on baby. Come to mama." She coos, and Yelena grins as she brings one leg forward. She wobbles unsteadily, and Natasha holds her breath as she watches. Thankfully, Yelena remains upright, looking up at her mama with a worried look on her face.
"It's okay," Natasha soothes as she falls to her knees and scoots herself forward slightly so there wasn't so much distance between them, "come to mama baby. Come on, it's okay."
Yelena let's out a disgruntled whine, but attempts to comply with her mothers words. She takes yet another unsteady step forward, and grins happily when she doesn't fall. Soon, she'd taken two whole steps, and was about a foot away from her mother.
Natasha laughs softly, "Such a clever girl. You're so close. Are you mama's clever girl?" She scoots herself just that bit closer, desperate to scoop the little one into her arms but not wanting to spook her.
Yelena gives her a gummy grin at the praise, taking one last step before falling to her butt. She claps happily, and Natasha could do no more than laugh elatedly as she catches Yelena and scoops her up onto her arms.
"You did it." She coos, pressing a lingering kiss to the little ones cheek, "you're getting so big."
Yelena, oblivious as to why her mother was so happy, simply beams at the tone of her mothers voice as she happily kicks her legs, and Natasha could so no more than hold her close.
Her baby was growing up.
