First Day in Kindergarten, She entertains herself with blocks of the colors of the sunset, colors she could barely pronounce a couple years ago, she stacks them brick by brick paying careful attention to the color pattern never arranging two blocks of the same color over each other. She notices him from across the room, his loudness and beaming personality makes him noticeable in a swarm of other kids surrounding him, he doesn't ever talk to her and she doesn't ever talk to him, she feels content knowing they are worlds apart. Till they are not.. There he stands hovering above her colorful tower, "Hey Giulia, nice colors! " she looks up at him and he gives her a bright smile, all his fans had disappeared from his side and his attention was on her tower, on her. She scanned his face as he took a sit beside her, "Can I join you?" he reaches for a block before glancing back at her, "Yeah you can, um Lexi?" she mumbled the prominent syllable in his name, which she had never payed attention to in opposition to him who apparently was paying more attention than she thought, he laughs softly, "Ah-Lex-ee" He mouths each syllable for her to mirror back at him and she does perfectly this time. Now for the next hour both toddlers sit in silence assembling bricks together exchanging smiles and giggles, when it's nap time, she realizes that the moment they shared could have been merely out of compassion and not in hopes to find a friend in her as he is swarmed with others just like her wanting to be in his company. She takes her usual spot while the teacher is forced to assign placement because of all the commotion, she watches as Alexei tugs on the teacher's blouse and points over to her, the teacher pats him on the head and her eyes widen as she realizes he maybe wanted her friendship. "Can I join you?" he smiles and she does the same patting the mattress to welcome him by her side, "You're different than what I thought" she says under her breath as they both lie down on their separate mattresses, that makes him smile, "You don't know me much" the curtains are shut and the light goes off as he whispers to her, she agrees with a simple hum letting the thought trail off as she starts dozing off, "Let's get to know each other hm?" she slurs her eyes closing against her will, he lets out a soft chuckle and nods, "hm."
