The phone rang a few more times and her mother finally answered. "Belle? Is everything okay?" The panic behind her voice was clear, after all, Emily only ever heard from her daughter when she couldn't figure something out on her own or she was coming for a visit, and she knew her daughter would not be driving in this type of weather. "Mom. Is this the end? Is this how we are going to go out? I miss you so much, mom. I just want to come home. And Kat. God Kat is driving me so damn insane. She's so chill about all of this and I am beyond stressed. I want to cry." Belle's voice came out broken and soft.
"I don't know baby girl, but what I do know is that you're strong and so brave. You can get through this. Wrap up warm. Go out and get coffee. Meet up with old friends. The world is still functioning for the most part. No one can really drive, but places are still open. People are walking. It can't be that bad out there Bells." Emily told her daughter. Isabelle got up and looked out her window. The blanket of white snow that covered everything made her cringe, but as her mother had stated, people walked the streets wrapped up warm. Her neighbor's children stood out in the yard building snowmen with friends. Some threw snowballs at each other. Nothing seemed as dangerous as she believed it had before, but it all still seemed so...wrong. "This doesn't make sense to me mom." She whispered into the phone. "It's something we've all gotten used to Bell. Maybe one day the sun will return and everything will go back to normal, but until then, this is our normal." Emily explained to her daughter. "I wished you didn't live so far away. I want to see you." Belle practically whined into the receiver. "I know Bell. I know. In time. This can't last forever." Her mother whispered. They said their goodbyes and Belle went back to her bed. She curled up under the covers turning on the tv. She flipped channels for what seemed like hours before settling on Supernatural.
Everything about the world seemed supernatural to her. Well, this bizarre snow anyway. As night fell, Belle finally began to settle down and actually get comfortable. She pulled the covers up to her chin as she sunk deeper into her bed. "ISABELLE!!!!" Kat screeched as she opened the door. "What the hell?" Belle mumbled covering her eyes as the lights flipped on. "The weather just said it's supposed to be in the sixties next week. THE SIXTIES!" She yells jumping up and down on the girl's bed. "I would be more excited if I didn't want to punch you in the face right now." Belle grumbled. Shaking her head Kat laid down next to her pulling her close. "It's okay BelleBottom. Once it warms up you won't be such a grouch anymore and I'll be your favorite person once more." She giggles. "How many times have I asked you NOT to call me that?" Belle hissed at her friend. "I'll keep calling you that as long as I live." Kat smiled kissing Belle on the nose. Scrunching her nose up Belle rolled her eyes. "I hate you." She laughs. "I love you too." Kat smiled.
