Sanam:
He thought I didn't notice but I saw that tear trickle down Arjuns cheek. Really was he that emotional to see his teacher. Anyways, Mainu Kee. It's not like I care. Do I ?I decided to sit down and watch a Pakistani drama. It was very interesting I just got to the part where the male lead is going to propose to the female lead. He's just about to propose when he gets shot. The female lead drops to her knees and screams loudly which sends goosebumps down my spine. It reminds me too much of that day. I started to feel sick. Suddenly, it started pouring with rain outside. I was awoken by lightning. I looked out the window and realised it was just a dream and I had left the washing out. I ran outside to bring them inside then I heard a gunshot. Not once, not twice but three times. Tears began forming in my eyes. I try to hold them back but they just trickle down my cheek. "Here's a tissue." "Thanks Asfi",I said. I looked back to see those familiar chocolate brown eyes staring at me, I could see so much concern. "Umm, sorry I thought you were Asfandyar ." "It's ok", Arjun said. "Tears don't suit you by the way," said Arjun. I didn't know what to say. Was I day dreaming? Was Arjun Arora being nice to me?
The sun had set ages ago and now the last adhan had gone for the day and everyone had prayed and were getting ready to sleep. "Sanam,"said Abu. "Jee." "Can you make me some chaa before I go sleep." "Jee Abbu." I made my way downstairs when I bumped into a wall. "Stupid wall." "That's a bit harsh", spoke the wall. I looked up and saw Arjun standing there in a black kurta, cup of chaa in his hands. I looked at the cup in confusion. "Oh yeah, ummmm,I decided to make chaa for uncle. Btw, I told him you made it. Do you want some?" "Sure", I said He held the cup to my lips and I took a sip of the chaa. "Chee, this is disgusting. He scratched the back of his neck looking upset. In fact his chaa was amazing. It might have even tasted better than mine. It's not like I was going to tell him. The sun was starting to rise and the sky looked beautiful showing of all of its beautiful colours. The birds were singing there melodies and dancing in the sky. I decided to roughly sketch the scene and decided this is what I would paint today.
It had been ages and I still didn't know what was missing from the painting. I copied every detail down from the image I sketched but something was missing. The image flashed through my mind. This is all I could recall but the painting needed something. It needed a wow factor. Just then I heard Arjun come up the stairs. "Can I help, he said." "Sure," I said. I was sceptical as to what he was going to draw. Hopefully he doesn't mess it up. He started to draw two figures under the beautiful colours of the sky. A couple under the sunset looking at each other holding hands. The figures seemed so familiar but I couldn't make out who he was drawing. Who's that?, I asked. "It's mmm.....,nevermind it's just a couple standing together",said Arjun. "Alright, I'm off I need to go to the bazaar to get some things, Kyaa apko kucch chaahiye." "It's okay, I don't need anything," I said. "Watch out," I said. Arjun tripped over the paint water cup and slipped. He tried grabbing my dupatta for support but fell face first on to the floor. I broke into laughter. My insides were hurting. "Bas Ab rukho, "said Arjun. He was turning red in embarrassment. "Sorry", I said.
Arjun:
That was so embarrassing man. I fell face first in front of the girl. What does she think of me now? I hate her but when I'm with her something happens. I don't know what it is but my body temperature rises and I start feeling hot. Anyways, I needed to go to the bazaar. I think I'll stop by Professors study before I go. Knock Knock. "Beta, I thought you forgot about me." "How are you feeling now", I said. "Alhamdulillah, I am feeling much better now", said Professor. " Meh bazaar jarahoon, aap ko kuch chahiye." "No I don't need anything, Bas app haryet se aajo," said uncle. Then I left to go to the bazaar. I didn't really need to buy anything. I just needed some fresh air and to clear my mind. My mind was all over the place after finding out uncles condition. It really tore me into pieces. I was up all night praying for his good health and that's when I saw a shadow. It startled me at first. I looked at the alarm clock on the bedside table which said it was 2am. I thought perhaps it's a jin or ghost. Then I heard shallow breathing. I decided to go outside and take a look. It was Sanam. She looked as pale as a ghost. Tears were dripping down her cheeks.
There seriously is a lot going on I wish I could help everyone but I can't. There is only one me. The bazaar was loud and cheerful with street vendors shouting or singing out loud to attract customers. "Gharam Gharam Samsose lelo, Mithe Mithe Jalebi lelo", said an old man in a green kurta. I decided to buy some Jalebi for uncle so that we had something to eat with our afternoon chaa. "Uncle mujhe 1 kilo jalebi chahiye," I said. He smiled at me and gave me the food. " Beta, I haven't seen you around before. Did you just move here?, he said. "No uncle." "Are you here because of your pyaar." I chocked on air. "No,uncle that's not the case,I said." Bye uncle. I strolled along the colourfully dressed lanes, when something captured my eyes. She said she didn't need anything but they were perfect ,so pretty. They would look so pretty on her. These dark green chooriyan would look pretty against her light brown skin. I can just imagine my Sanam's face lighting up when she sees these. Wait.... My Sanam ? What is wrong with me? Astagfurillah. I shouldn't be thinking about her like that. She probably doesn't feel the same way. The clouds began to form in the sky and it looked like it was going to rain.
I decided to head back. I reached the house just in time before it began pouring down with rain. Sanam was just coming down the stairs into the courtyard. "Aap ne kya liya bazaar se", said Sanam. "Not much, just some jalebi to eat later on." "What's in the other bag?," said Sanam. My ears were probably deceiving me and turning a shade of red. "Nothing." Yes, I did buy the chooriyan for her but it's not like I'm going to tell her. I'll probably give it some other time. "Okay" ,said Sanam. "Btw, I don't know if Abbu told you but kuch log aaray hain mujhe dekhne", said Sanam. What?, people are coming to see her. I felt a dull ache in my chest. I really need to get myself checked out. "Are you okay with this happening", I said. I looked into her eyes trying to read them but I couldn't. They looked confused. "Well, I'm supposed to get married sooner or later. I can't hold on to the past forever. I have to move on," said Sanam .
