"Honey wake up! Its your first day of college!" My mom said.
Ugh I don't want to get up, granted I am really excited to start a new school. I will have so much freedom and I will not have to live under my parents wings. I feel that I am ready to start to making my own decisions, I am an adult. Wow that sounds really weird.
"Okay mom, let me get ready."
I took my clothes off and stepped into the shower. The hot water relaxed my tense muscles. When I step put of the shower, I see multiple texts from John, my boyfriend. He said that he will be here in 10 minutes.
*Okay see you then* I respond.
By the time I am ready, it is almost late morning, and I am really hungry. I walk down stairs and see that my mom has gone all out for me going to college. She has made a cake, even though it is 10 in the morning, and she has a balloon. I am very thankful that I have supporting parents that love me. Part of me wishes my dad was here, but he is at work.
"Thanks so much, you did not have to do all of this!" I say to my mom
"I am so happy and sad to see my little girl all grown up and headed to college." She tells me.
I pull her in for a hug because I know she is going to be very lonely, since my sister is already in college.
"Are you nervous at all Brook?" She asks.
"Of course I am, it's college!" I say playfully
My phone buzzes and it is John.
*Hey I am here* The text reads.
I set my phone on the counter and walk to the front door to greet him.
"Hey, hows my college girl?" He asks.
"Couldn't be better." I lie. I am honestly so scared of the thought of 4 years without my mom or dad.
"Lets go grab something to eat!" My mom says cheerfully.
"Sure, where do you want to go?" John asks.
"I am thinking about IHop." I say. I really hope they agree because I have not eaten there in a really long time, and that is my favorite place to get breakfast.
"Sounds good." John and my mom both say at the same time.
I insisted that I drive because I like to drive. It took around 20 minutes to get there, and when we got there, I ran into a friend from 10th grade and we talked for about 15 minutes before we got our table. I ordered the chocolate pancakes, which I love and a coffee. I am dreading what is going to happen next. I will have to say goodbye.
John insisted that he paid the bill, which was very nice of him. After that I thought we were going to the college, but my mom and John took me shopping and I picked out some new clothing that I really like. John and my mom both picked out clothing also. Then they took me to college. I am really nervous and excited all at the same time. In 2 years, John will be joining me, so that is something to look forward to.
As we approach the dorms, I am really scared to meet my roommate. I did not get to choose my roommate, so this could get interesting. We get to the table to find my dorm number, and we have to wait. The lady at the table asked for my name and I gave it to her. She tells me that I am in room 206, second floor.
We trip up there feels like forever, and when we finally get there, I am almost out of breath because of the nervousness. When i open the door, I see my new roommate. She has long blond hair and she is really tan. Almost the opposite of me. I look down at my body; jeans and a sweater. My long brown hair is curled. Well, I guess I don't look that bad today. She comes toward me and gives me a hug. Not expecting that.
"Hey there! What's your name? How are you doing? Where did you come from?" She asks.
My head is spinning from all of the questions she just asked me.
"Hi! Great! I am Brooklyn, you can call me Brook though." Is all I can manage to get out.
"Omg I am so excited, I thought I was going to have some lame girl as my roommate, but I guess not!"
I nod my head in agreement.
John and my mom help me put away my clothes and put some decorations up on the plain, boring walls.
"Thanks so much for everything. I am going to miss you guys so much, I will visit as much as I can!" I tell my mom and John.
"Honey, you are always welcome! Awww, I love you so much." She pulls me in for a tight hug, and when she pulls away, I see the tears in her eyes. I give John a hug and then they are gone. It was almost too fast. I have no clue what I am going to do with them gone.
