Auv's POV:-
Luke sat at the bar, nursing a glass of red wine in one hand while his other hand scrolled through messages on his phone. The bar was filled with the clinking of beer glasses and the murmur of conversations.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated, and he looked at it, only to find a text from his girlfriend.
She wrote, "I want to break up with you."
While he wasn't entirely surprised, the message stung. What bothered him more was the lack of explanation behind this sudden decision.
He couldn't find the words to respond. The emotions were overwhelming, and he grappled with the fear of losing his only friend and ending up alone. Deep down, he knew he needed the relationship more than she did.
Then, out of the blue, he heard someone's voice, "Are you feeling down because of the relationship? If that's the case, maybe you don't need a breakup; you need a fresh start with someone new."
Those words struck him like a ton of bricks. It was an epiphany. "This isn't about me," he realized. "It's about her."
Off spoke up, "I have an offer for you, Luke."
Luke looked at Off, clearly confused. "What?" he asked.
Off continued, "It's an offer that could benefit both of us and our current partners."
Luke considered this, saying, "That sounds intriguing. It might even be more lucrative than my previous offers, and I've been quite generous with those."
Off then revealed the offer, "The idea is to exchange our lovers."
Luke's initial reaction was anger, and he grabbed Off's T-shirt collar tightly. "Hey, hold on, don't get physical," Off cautioned, and Luke took a deep breath to calm himself. Off persisted, "Luke, I understand you might not be interested in this arrangement, but hear me out."
Luke replied, "I don't think I can agree to this, no matter what offer you have."
Off remained calm, "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, Luke. It's an honor to consider such a relationship with someone like you. You're a worthy companion and lover."
Luke contemplated for a moment before reluctantly saying, "Well, yes, maybe."
Off reassured, "There's no point in arguing; it's just business. I can't afford to get upset about this."
Luke then asked, "How should we proceed, Off?"
Off explained, "First, we'll need to exchange our lovers and their information. It'll take some time to make it happen, going through all the necessary steps. Then, we'll decide on the time and place for the exchange. Let's start by meeting and arranging some details for tomorrow."
Luke agreed, "Sounds reasonable. When will I meet your lover?"
Off responded, "That'll happen soon. You can also choose the meeting location."
