Noorulain didn't understand why Salaar thought she was still listening to him. It had been hours and hours but he kept on going on and on about derivatives.
Noorulain couldn't care less about derivatives. Or calculus. Or math. It didn't help that her best friend Maaz also loved calculus. These days, she couldn't get away from Calculus.
She breathed out in annoyance, fixing Salaar with the famous Rehan family glare. "I swear to god if you don't shut up in the next five seconds I'm going to explode."
Salaar gave her a dirty look. "Not my fault I'm intelligent."
Noorulain shook her head, resuming her painting. Being close in age meant that they got along fine. But despite that, Noorulain didn't have better chemistry with anyone other than Maaz. With Maaz her friendship was so transparent.
Her mother poked her head in through the door. "Dinner's ready!"
She laughed in delight, racing away from Salaar as fast as she could.

Nina had just celebrated her 33rd birthday privately with Omair and their children. They all sat on the porch and talked quietly as the sun went down. Noorulain had just turned 10 and Salaar was 8. But sometimes she felt like her children were ultra geniuses. Even Omair couldn't keep up.
"Sometimes I think they get it from Dawud." Omair sad as Salaar starting another rant about finding extrema from a graph.
Nina through him a shocked look. "They're not blood related to Dawud bhai."
Omair gave her an amazed look. "They spend too much time with him."
Nina was forced to think about and finally ended up agreeing with her husband. In the past few years, they had grown closer together. Not just as a couple who were very much in love, but as two friends, two partners. Companions for life.
"Amma wants us all over for Eid this year." Nina said, laying her head down on Omair's shoulder. By now the kids were swinging on the play set in the backyard.
"Sounds good to me." He squeezed her hand bringing it to his lips.
She turned her head to look at him and like always was astonished that even at 46, he was so strikingly handsome. The concept of aging didn't seem to apply to him. His hair had jsut the bare few strands of silver, his skin as perfect as it was before the faintest lines at the corner of his eyes. She kissed his cheek.
"I really, really love you." She breathed.
He chuckled lowly. "I know, Angel. I love you more."
She clicked her tongue. "Not true."
He held her face in his palms. "You and I both know how true that is."

Omair would never admit it but he secretly loved it when his kids would go over to Dawud's house. It meant cornering his wife and seducing her into bed.
Even now she was braiding her hair neatly when he all but grabbed her and carried her into bed, muffling her mouth with his and weaving his fingers through her hair to release it from the braid.
"New lipgloss?" He murmured with a smirk, smearing it more as he kissed her deeper.
"Mhmm, melon flavored."
He brought her to the brink of pleasure once and then twice more, finally letting her satiated body rest in his arms. "You should wear that hot pink saree again."
She shot him a puzzled look, burying into the comforter. "Which hot pink saree?"
"The one you wore for my birthday when we first got married. I swear, I couldn't control myself back then."
She gave him a slightly sheepish look. "I burned it."
He choked, coughing. Nina sat up, patting his back soothingly. "No way Nina!"
"Yes way. I was really angry."
He looked at her with guilt. "I'm sorry. I'll but you ten more of the hot pink sarees."
"I don't want ten of the same colored saree." She pouted.
He kissed the pout off her lips. "I'll buy you whatever you want."
"Perfect."
