Am I dead?
I'm sure I am because I can't feel or see anything. My ears pick up some distant birds with some wind gushing by my ear. I try to move my finger as I slowly gain control over my own body, energy surges through me as I start to feel my toes and legs, later arms and chest. I can feel my heartbeat in my ribs and my face relaxes under the warm breeze.
Carefully, I open my eyes and all I see is a bright bulb far in the sky, as my eyes adjust I realize it's the sun. My body feels extremely warm and sweaty as I begin to look around. How did I get here? My eyes wander around and all I can see is sand with some burnt bushes here and there. In the distance, it looks like there is a forest with lots of green trees. That's when I realize that I am sitting on a piece of paper, Adria Evelyn it says. I think that must be my name because I cannot remember a thing about me.
Something rustles in the distance under the hot sand so I spring to my feet hoping it might be a person to help me figure out what the hell is going on here. Suddenly a bunch of scorpions appear from under the sand just a few feet away from me. Panic rushes through my veins as I get the sudden urge to run as fast as a lightning bolt, so that's exactly what I do. The scorpions are definitely not slow as they follow right behind me. My feet carry me as fast as they possibly can with the huge adrenaline rushing through me.
I head towards the forest, sweat collecting on my face and body while my throat starts to dry with the lack of water. Jesus, when was the last time I drank? I quickly hide behind a bush, hoping these weird ass scorpions will go away which to my luck, they do.
As I look around I realize the forest is kinda nice. There are tall green trees and cute bushes with moss on the side of the little brown paths. I follow the small path leading deeper into the forest, hoping to find something, anything. I definitely need to find food and water to survive, later I can find wood to build a little place to spend the night. That is when I realize I have no idea what day or time it is, all I know is the sun is in the middle of the sky meaning it's around noon.
................................
My knees already hurt from all the walking, it's probably been at least two hours since I've sat down, my stomach starts to rumble as I sit near a tree exhausted. My knees are somewhat scraped from the walk and I'm sweating everywhere. On the way, I sharpened a stick for hunting or protection just in case, this forest does look a little sketchy. Suddenly, I hear branches cracking as if something is walking. Before I can even think, I'm back on my feet and holding my stick with a harsh grip. I kneel back down to hide behind the bush as I keep my eyes wide open for anything moving. All the tiredness has mysteriously disappeared and my brain is on instant alert.
I hear a heavy breath that must belong to the footsteps, I jump forward for an attack as I hear them get closer but immediately stop as I see a rather handsome but muddy face. A boy around my age with dirty blond hair and hazel eyes looks back at me in complete shock as I stand frozen in front of him. I'm not alone? I'm not alone! Panic is soon replaced with utter happiness as my breathing comes back to me and I can't help but smile. "Omg, I thought I was alone!" He looks like he finally got back to reality and checks me out from top to bottom. I feel his eyes on me as energy surges through me. "What is it?", I wonder, "Do you have food?" His deep voice shocks me. I shake my head no and he gives me a devastated look.
We head along the path only for us to later hear water. Both of us are silent hoping to hear something and as soon as the sound of water hits our ears we both must think the same thing: FISH. We sprint toward to sound and soon enough we both smile bigger than we have in a while. Me using my stick while he uses his hands we hope to catch food.
My eye catches a large fish swimming near my stick so I stab it as fast as I can. He looks shocked but sad because his hands are still empty. "I'll share but we gotta cook it", he nods and gets wood for us.
......................................
The sun has started to go down as we both are sitting at the warm fire eating the fish like hungry animals. "So, what's your name princess?", he asks liking his strong fingers. I glare at him: "Don't call me that. And it's Adria, what about you?", "Alan". Alan.
Alan looks at me like I'm stupid: "Go catch another fish.", "Excuse me?" I say stunned, "You're excused love", "You cannot boss me around I am not your little maid, plus you should be happy I shared!" I start to grow angry "Fine, I'm too tired for this anyways", and he gets up to wash his hands in the water.
We lay down near the fire and I eventually fall asleep looking at the stars.
