There were only 5 minutes of class remaining. It was Friday and I had a long yet awesome weekend ahead of me, starting with Ashlynn and I's 5 month anniversary. I know it's not anything major but it doesn't hurt to celebrate.
I found myself staring at the wall for the hundredth time in this class alone. Mr.Eddington talked SO slow, it's like he's intentionally trying to put us all to sleep with his gloomy voice and extensive pauses. It's sad that all he talks about is English and Greek literature and grammar, not once has he told us about his family, if he has one. He's a poor, old, sad man who finds joy in putting sophomore teenagers to sleep.
The clock keeps ticking. I look over at my best friend Isabella, who got moved to the front of the class a few weeks back because we wouldn't stop talking and disturbing class. Her and I are like two peas in a pod, we met in the 5th grade and been inseparable ever since. She was your typical cheerleader; long natural waves, slim body, pretty face, and eye candy to every boy in school. I guess you can say we're both pretty popular.
Ringgg, ringgg
I rushed to pack my things then made my way over to Isabella's desk.
"You ready to go Bel?" I asked as I twirled my keys around my fingers. She finished putting her things away then we walked out of the classroom and out to the parking lot. Ever since I got my car for my 16th birthday not too long ago, Bel and I have been going everywhere non-stop. We practically live in my car from the moment we get off of school till our curfew.
"So where are we going first?" She asked after she sat in the passenger seat.
"I still don't know what to get Ashlynn for our anniversary tomorrow sooo I need your help."
"Well what did you have in mind?"
I started to pull out of the parking lot and into the road. "I was thinking a ring.. But then again it's a bit too soon for that. So maybe a nice necklace with a whole lotion set, you know the kind that she likes? Something like that maybe."
We discussed it the whole ride to the mall then finally came to the decision that I'd get her a necklace and something she'll like from Victoria Secret or Bath and Body Works, which were our first two stops. Knowing Ashlynn, she won't like those typical vanilla or coconut scents because she doesn't like anything "basic". I grab her an exotic scent I know she won't disagree with and threw it in the shopping bag. Body spray, lotion, shower scrubs, soap and hand sanitizer all together in a nice little violet and fuchsia care package with a bow tied ribbon on top.
Our next stop was a jewelry shop at the other end of the mall. We looked and looked through all the racks of necklaces, they were all beautiful but none really fit Ash's personality. She was really into fashion and clothing but I've never really seen her wear necklaces, that I know of, so I want this one to be special. After looking for a while I found a silver necklace with a purple pendant in the shape of a diamond on it, along with a small silver elephant charm. Bel and I both agreed on it and even tried it on to make sure it looked good around our collar bones.
"This is the one I'm positiveeee she'll like it!" She said, unclipping the necklace from the back of her neck. I took her word for it and bought it. This seemed like a pretty good anniversary gift to give Ashlynn, not too extravagant yet not too boring. I paid for the necklace then we left the mall and headed back to my car.
It was only 5:21 but I decided to go home early because I had a busy weekend ahead of me and I wanted to make sure everything went as planned. I dropped Isabella off at her house a few blocks down from mine then head home.
I live in a big, 2-story modern home in northern Florida, just 5 miles off the coast. My mom is a high school principal for Chamber High, our worst and really only competition when it came to football and cheer. We've been head to head for the state championship title for past 4 years, but nothing can get past Liberty's defense team. My momma, on the other hand, owns her very own modeling agency, TRACI, that has several locations throughout the state of Florida. I admire her for the way she's worked her way up the industry throughout the years to now be her own boss. My momma is indeed, a true badass. Since we've moved here back when I was an infant, our family has grown with the addition of my 3 siblings. All adopted of course.
