Life in L.A

Chapter two

I paused and thought about what my grandmother just told me.

Did I want to go with my grandma and live in L.A? Do I want to leave my mom and risk not seeing her ever again? Did I want to leave Missouri with all my friends and family?

"Cindy? "

"Huh? Sorry, why do I have to leave? Why cant I stay with my mom here? "

" Cindy, its not the easy, your mom will barely know who you are. You cant live bu yourself. And your to young to understand what is seriously happening. "

" What are you talking about, I'm 17, how am I too young to understand this. I'm not a little clueless kid anymore that never understands anything. I already know my dad ran away and my mom went crazy because she knows we will never see him again!

I get it, nobody understands thatim 17 and I understand what is going on in my own life!"

She didn't response, both if us were quite. All we heard was the car moving on the road and the honking of the cars around us.

We pulled up into the parking lot of the mental hospital and there were big red trucks and ambulances parked in front. We parked the car and I got out, slammed the door, and walked through the automatic doors on the lobby to reach the front desk.

" Abbigal Lawson? Where is she? I need to know." I asked the lady at the desk sitting in the black chair. She wad wearing a dark green outfit, that had matching pants and a shirt. Her blonde hair was tied back into a black ponytail.

" Um, let me check. You are?" She asked me.

" Cindy, Lawson. I'm her daughter and I need to see my mom now! "

"Okay. One minute."

I started pacing back and forth in front of the lady. Her white nametag said Wanda on it. I turned to see my grandmother walking in through the doors.

" What are you doing? Why did you speed off." She asked me out of breath.

" Ma 'm the room your mom is in is 209." Wanda told me.

" Thank you!" I said with a fake smile, only because I'm in a bad mood.

I walked through the the halls looking for 209, and there were nurses walking around with nurse tools and foods for the patients. They were all wearing the same ugly green outfits that the lady at the front desk was. Some the nurses smiled at me, I half smiled back. I found 209 and I pushed the door open to see my mother laying in the bed. I wanted to start crying right then and there. Her face was pale and drained out, her eyes looked bloodshot and she was a mess. I looked at her and she just stared at me, not knowing I am.

" Mom." I whispered.

All of the sudden a man with a white coat on walked in.

" Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interupt anything." The doctor told me.

"No, I just got here."

"Oh, okay, who are you? "

" I am Cindy, Abbigal 's daughter."

" Oh i have to inform you that your mom might not remember who you are."

" Yes, I figured. Unfortunately. So Doctor, what exactly hapened to my mom? " I asked suspiciously.

"Well, we are thinking that ur mom thinks its her fault the ur dad ran away so all that pain was eating away at her and she finally let go and went crazy."

I stopped for a second and thought that my mom could never be herself again. My family could never be the same again.

" Will my mom ever be the same again?"

" I'm not sure. At this stage. Just beggining we cant tell."

" Oh."

I walked towards my mom. She looked at me. I looked at her. I could tell she had no clue who I was. But I on the other hand I know everything about her. My mom started moving away as I got closer. I stopped and she calmed down after that. My eyes started watering and my whole body got numb and a tear dropped from my eyes. I walked away, out of the room and nh grandma followed me to the car.

"Have a nice day." Wanda told me as i walked out of the automatic doors.

I just nodded and looked at her. I ran to the car and waited for my grandma to drive me home.

" Are you okay? "She asked getting in the car.

"Sure, I guess I just figured out I'm not gona see my mom as herself anymore."

She just looked at me and started the car.
