noun
"close acquaintance with or knowledge of something."Forks, Washington has never been a place that I would ever think to call "home". It's always been city's or close city like suburban neighborhoods. When my mother Addison informed me of moving to this place from Houston, Texas I honestly though she was joking. Here I am watching the tall trees pass by me as we head into town, "Huh population 3,121... well now 3,123".
Pulling into the drive way of a two story, two bedroom and two bath olive green house that has vines that have been slowly growing on the side with brown leaves covering the roof definitely built some time in the late 90's was the place where I will stay until the next move. After a day and a half of driving I have never been so happy to get out and stretch my legs, looking around noticing no moving truck I turn to my mother, "mom where's the truck?". I know the truck left before us but it should be here by now.
"It already came honey, everything is inside" my mother smiled at me and started towards the door as the rain started to sprinkle down which seems to be a common on and off occurrence.
Once inside the house it had already smelled of pine trees and rain, something I've already come to enjoy. Slipping off my shoes I head upstairs to what I had already learned would be my room, thankfully the bed had already been put together along with the rest of the furniture that I'd die if I had to do it all together again for what seemed like the millionth time.
After decorating and unpacking my room it felt comfortable. Usually my room has always looked the same giving a sense of security no matter where I went but there was this feeling and look of it being different. It wasn't a bad different but a good different. A main factor is love seat window that popped out the side of the house looking into the forest only a couple yards away. The rain made everything so serene even with all the moving I have never been to a place like Forks.
The next morning I lazily slapped my alarm and slowly crawled out of bed to the connecting bathroom. Rubbing the sleep out of eyes I look into the mirror my brown hair was wild from tossing and turning all night and my green eyes had bags underneath them from lack of sleep. "I look like crap..." whispering to myself starting up the shower.
Pulling into my new school was nerve wracking, it's a quarter into the year and I'd be the newest girl the school has probably gotten in a while. Taking a breath I hop out of my blacked out jeep Cherokee catching myself before slipping on the ice I was so not used too. Taking a look around all there is was handy down cars until I spot the newer jeep wrangler and a silver Volvo, "definitely the rich kids of forks".
Passing by into the front office I noticed seven individuals hanging by the nicer cars, all pale and attractive expect one who was nearly has pale but most normal looking than the rest. All seeming to be too busy in their own conversation to glance my way thankfully unlike everyone else in the parking lot.
The front office was obviously very out dated, fake wood counter with ship lap wood covering the wall and yellowish bright lights making all the white walls in the rest of the office have a yellow tint. Clearing my throat to the older fake red headed lady who seemed to be glued to the screen finally looks up at me with over enthusiastic excitement, "hello dear! You must be Sierra Mae Williams!". I slightly nodded looking at the lady, the lady shuffled through some papers before pulling out three papers, "here's your schedule with a locker number, a map of the school and your slip that needs to be filled out by your teachers and given back to me at the end of the day". Nodding to her I went off to find my locker before the first bell rung out.
