ONCE THE CLASSROOM'S door slid open, all the girls swarmed the tall orange-haired muscular figure that walked into the doorway. It wasn't a shocker that he would be bombarded with all the females in homeroom on the first day of school of his last year. This was a usual thing whenever he walks in, regardless of what kind of day it is—which is every day. He was one of the popular guys that swooned girls' hearts, and with even a single word that came out of his mouth, these girls would fold easily for him. "Rensuke~ you're so handsome!" some of them squealed, complimenting him like usual. "Please sit next to me this school year~" Rensuke wasn't fond of compliments. More like he didn't know how to handle them, but being the popular guy, he had to deal with it 24/7. He kindly greeted everyone that stood around him, giving them a brief wave without a smile as he quickly grabbed the seat, he had always sat for his whole high school career.
All the guys in homeroom whispered to each other, in disbelief that they still have to deal with this until their final school year is over.
"Hey," Rensuke sat behind the only one female that was never part of his fan girl club that existed throughout the school, his best friend—Yuki Sato. "I'll be damned to see you swarm me like that someday," he joked, taking out his notebook. He didn't get a response from her. Rensuke gently bit the inside of his lip as he got slightly embarrassed. "I guess I'm getting the silent treatment on the first day back."
"Shut up, I'm listening to music. We have seen each other all summer long. You'd keep dreaming if I was part of your fan club," she scoffed. Yuki turned around to keep her back towards him again. She was always the type that sometimes didn't know how to drop her attitude when she was annoyed; even though, she looks like the innocent nice, kind student. However, once being friends with her, she's the total opposite, which brought Rensuke by surprise when he met her. With such a response she gave, there was no shock to him that she would answer the way she did.
"Someone definitely woke up grumpy," he rolled his eyes.
"Rensuke!" one of his soccer teammates came walking through the doorway; however, he didn't get the same paparazzi of females like Rensuke did though. He was one of the ordinary ones, like the rest of guys in class. "Yoichi!" he waved him down, patting the desk that was behind him.
"Hey Yoichi!" Yuki turned around, leaning from her chair to wave at him. "Couldn't see you there over this big bright orange head that is in my way," she smirked, shifting her eyes to Rensuke to give him a playful wink. "Good morning, Yuki! Classic self, huh?" he looked at the other male in front of him, "I won't be surprised if she gave you attitude this morning either."
Rensuke's lips parted to let out a low sigh, looking away from her. "I swear... she is always nice to everyone else, but me. She just pretends to be nice when you guys are around..."
"Anyways, are you ready for the new season? There are two soccer signup sheets on the bulletin board in the gymnasim. Obviously, we will be on the 'returning players' sheet," he places his backpack down by his chair as he sits at the desk behind his buddy. I wonder what rookies we are going to get this year?" Yoichi is the type to speak a lot when he starts talking. It's sometimes hard to have his mouth closed when he starts, but he is definitely aware when nobody starts listening to what he has to say.
"I'm quite hyped up to see who the rookies are... or who are interested."
Being her nosy self, Yuki butted in the conversation, "I want to see too!"
"Let's see when we go on our break," Rensuke said, just before their homeroom teacher strolled into the doorway.

Before the two could say anything to Rensuke, the same group of fangirls stood by him once again when he stood up from his desk. To his friends, it was unbelievable that these girls wouldn't give up at all no matter how much he said no to them. Like usual, he isn't overwhelmed, but yet tries his best to get away from them. Both of his friends rolled their eyes before looking at each other. Although Yuki quickly took her phone, linked arms with Rensuke and dashed their way out of the classrooms, leaving Yoichi behind. The group of girls were left in shock as they were jealous of her being able to do that to him. "Hey, wait up!" Yoichi shouted, running after them.
"I always thank you for doing things like that," he looked ahead of him while Yuki pulled him down the hallway. "We certainly left Yoichi behind though..."
"He can survive. He's not as cool as you," she stopped in her tracks, once they made it to the bulletin board, and the mood suddenly changes with her change of attitude. "The important one is you! The all-star... mister popular," she hands the pen that's attached to the clipboard for him to sign. "I wonder if your fan club will ever stop swarming you if you ever get a girlfriend during this last school year." Yuki tilted her head, observing his side profile as he signs his name on the sheet. She then continues to admire the appearance of her best friend.
He wonders as well. He always thought about that throughout his high school years. He's a popular guy but still doesn't have a girlfriend. Besides ending this school year with successful wins with his soccer team, he also wishes to at least earn his first kiss by the end of the year. His gaze locks onto her dark brown eyes that keeps a gaze in his direction. He didn't respond to her, as he didn't want to say anything in return of her comment. Yuki let out a scoff, eventually turning it into a chuckle. "Don't hide it. I know you agree. You want one, but you're just keeping quiet about it because you don't want to be embarrassed about mentioning it." A smile grows upon her lips while her hand moves to a side of his cheek to gently brush it with her thumb. "I really do hope for whatever you are thinking too, since I'll always support you as a best friend through thick and thin."
He couldn't help, but to swallow all of his spit into the depths of his esophagus to keep himself from saying anything, and kept his eyes locked with hers. "Yuki--"
"HEY!" a loud shout was overhead on the other side of the gymnasium. Both of them flinched as Yuki quickly let go and took a huge step back away from Rensuke. Their eyes shifted to the double doors to see Yoichi waving his hand while making his way to them. "There you guys are."
"What took you so long?" her eyebrows furrowed, crossing her arms as she faced Yoichi. "We were waiting for you... Rensuke wanted to sign up with you, but you took so long so he decided to do it himself."
"Yeah, man..."
"I kind of got carried away from the others returning players. I happened to run into most of them, and we had to catch up. My apologies!" He bows at a ninety degree, just before signing his name on the sheet as well.
"Looks like you both are now returning to this years' soccer team!" Yuki cheered for them, and did some cheer moves to boost their confidence and hype.
"Awesome! Looks like we got to go back soon. I'll see you guys there," he waved at the both of them.
"You can head back without me, Rensuke. I got to hit the lady's room before I go back to home room," her shoulder did a slight shrug before looking past him to see a tall black-haired boy approaching them. He nodded in response but got curious at who she was looking at. He turned his head, and there comes Rin Itoshi. He wasn't surprised to see him since Yuki is here, but he nodded once again before making his farewell leave back to class. "Be back soon, or else you'll be late," he patted Yuki's shoulder, "ok?" She nodded in reply. He also waved at Rin, "Sign up so we can play together for the last year!" he shouted, while waving just before disappearing past the double doors.
"I don't care if we play together. All I care is you watching me play," Rin chuckled once he pulled Yuki in for a hug. She was all mesmerized by his eyes and wrapped her arms around his body as she placed the side of his face against his chest. She felt her stomach get butterflies while being held in his grasp. "Did you miss me?"
"Yes... very much Rin."
"Good," he softly kissed her forehead.
Rensuke leaned against the wall, letting out a quiet sigh after seeing the interaction between the two. He shook his head to snap himself out of his thoughts and walked back to home room.
