"No way!" I screeched, and giggled as Conor pointed to a flower girl dress in a catalog. It was practically a tutu and and it was blue. I hated it and I knew he did, too. I pulled out a notepad that I had brought with me and wrote:
Maid of honor:
Best man:
Flower girl:
Ring bearer:
Bridesmaids:
Ushers:
Invited:
I finished writing and looked up.
"Okay. So, who's your best man going to be?" I asked.
"Ben." He stated immediately. Ben was his best friend.
"Okay, easy enough." I wrote Ben down by best man. "And my maid of honor should definitely be Ashlee." I wrote down Ashlee's name.
"Flower girl? I was thinking that should be your sister's kid."
"Megan? That would work actually if Ashlee is already in it." So I write down Megan, Ashlee's four-year-old daughter as the flower girl.
"And ring bearer?" He asked.
"Your cousin, Jeff's son, Caleb. How old is he?"
"Six."
"Perfect. Now for the bridesmaids and ushers?"
"Oh god." He raised his eyebrows. "That's a lot of people I don't feel like thinking about right now."
"Conor... We should get this done. This is the easiest part of planning a wedding." I explained.
"I don't know anything about planning a big event. Especially this, so don't trust me 100%. But, I don't think we should rush all this planning immediately. I mean, we only get one chance at this. Their is no redo wedding." He suggested.
"You're right... But I'm pretty sure that, in our case anyway, there really is only one person to fit these positions." I replied.
"Maybe you're right. I just," he ran a hand through his hair, "I really don't wanna screw this up. I really do love you." He leaned in and kissed me. I pulled back and smiled.
"I know. And I don't wanna mess it up either, I just, I hate the feeling of procrastination and all the constant stress, and I just want it to be over with." I said, tiredly.
"I know. You look exhausted. How about we watch tv? That always calms you down." He said, and led me into his family room, where we sat down and watched tv until midnight. I was happy, and for once the nagging stress was gone.
The next morning I called Conor with a question I had thought of overnight.
"Since we are going to be married, don't you think it would be a good idea to look at houses? We need a place to live after the wedding.
"Yeah that would be a good idea. I have a reasonable amount of money for three months after graduating college. You?"
"I have enough that if we pool it together, we could buy a house!" I replied, excitedly. He pulled out an iPad and opened the Zillow app. He searched for houses in the area within our price range.
"I like that one!" He said. He pointed at a fairly spacious home in a nice neighborhood that we could afford.
"Yeah, I do too." I replied.
"We shouldn't be doing this either, you know," he said, "We don't have a real estate agent. We shouldn't rush things. Just calm down and forget about it all." He shut down the iPad and turned the TV back on. I was happy, but not content.
