The adventure strode through the silver-welded doors as he glided across the palace floors like moonlight on water. And when he stopped exactly five feet from his throne as customary for visiting aristocracy, his deep red eyes met her own. No trace of fear or unworthiness in his gaze. In fact, his face was carefully and methodically wiped clean of emotion except for the small dignified smile playing on his lips.
"You have called, My Liege, and I have answered." this adventurer says as he kennels in front of the queen.
Everything about this adventurer was illustrious, from his stride to his bow, to his clipped manner of speech. A manner which Her Highness had often come to associate with nobility.
The High Queen banged her silver studded staff against the floor, "You may rise."
The adventure rose gracefully from his kneeled position. "Your Highness, you have called me, the adventurer who finds what is lost, to request for my services in finding your eldest daughter Katszum, Hair to this noble queendom."
The Queen waved a hand, "Your services are not required. For my heir has just been found."
If the man was surprised by the Queen's words, there was no trace of it on his face. "Then I shall depart at once. It has been an honor, your Highness." With those words, the adventurer spun on his heel and made way to the silver doors.
"Wait," the word was not shouted, yet the sheer power behind its speaker shook the room.
The adventurer turned, "You have called, My Liege, and yet again I answer. What is it you request?"
The High Queen rose from her throne, her red eyes never wandering from the form in front of her. The adventurer rose as well, and red met red.
"I request the truth... an answer... Why do you try to leave me yet again, my dearest Katszum?"
The High Queen was trying to catch her daughter off guard, to extract an apology from her sealed lips. Or even a promise, a solemn oath that she would never leave so abruptly again, that she would never again cause her such undue stress and worry. But that was foolish hope, to believe that her eldest daughter, the heir to her queendom would be so easily cofounded by such an obvious ploy.
And her daughter did not disappoint.
"My Liege, are you well? I am not your daughter, how could I be when I am not even a woman?"
Oh what a wonderful declaration that was, respectful and polite, yet leaving no room for argument. It appears that she had not forgotten her diplomatic training, despite spending the better part of a year running through the forests of the queendom. Regardless of her current situation, The High Queen couldn't stop the sliver of pride that shined out of her face.
"Do you take your Queen for a fool that she could not recognize her own child?"
Katszum stuttered, "What.. no.. no of course I don't... Well I mean you aren't right but-"
