Alex spent her day preparing for the night as she had for the previous week. She tried to purge her memory of last night, hoping Bob would do the same.
After buying more candy, twice as much this time, she returned home. Before the sun even started to set, Alex had cleaned her apartment again and made sure that her sketchbook was hidden away.
"Not having him look at it this time." She paused before noticing that the cult book was gone. Had he taken it? She searched her entire abode to find that Bob had most likely taken the piece of text. "Ah, oh well." She sighed. As long as he didn't use it for anything bad, she supposed she didn't care.
The woman and her mass explored the cult-related script and found nothing of importance. No way to separate the pair and no way to further Bessie's abilities. What Alex had found was that she could, thankfully, heal others with Bessie. She still couldn't figure out why Bessie was unable to heal her heart.
With Bob around though, she felt as though her heart wouldn't be subjected to any physical torture. Emotional torture? Oh, for sure. Especially if she flapped her jaws again like a blundering idiot.
Now she sat on her couch again, gawking at the door as she stuffed a few pieces of candy onto Bessie's surface. "Do you think he's going to bring up last night?"
Bessie was far too focused on consuming the candy to respond.
"I think he is. He's probably going to call me an idiot or something." Alex groaned, leaning back onto the cushions of the sofa. "And I really can't sit here and wait for night to come. I'm way too nervous." She started bouncing her knee. The act didn't ward off her anxious thoughts, but kept them under control.
She kept talking, "Do I really care about him in that way though?" She was finally able to recall the things she had said prior. "I told him I loved him... but like, did I mean it?" She rubbed her head with her un-Bessie-d arm, "I know that summoning you desensitized me, so maybe that's why I'm feeling like this?"
Bessie finally made eye contact with her and squinted.
"I mean, it's not your fault I'm like this. I was already a little rabid before meeting you, Bessie." Alex explained, "I could easily watch horror movies and their gorey scenes without batting an eye." She tapped her chin, "I'm thinking it has to do with having unlimited access to the internet for quite some time."
Yeah, she was going to go with that. Although, she still couldn't tell how she felt about Bob, exactly. I'll leave that up to the future to decide... or even fate. Her brain started to rattle, forcing more thoughts to form.
"Fine, guess I'll be cleaning." Sometimes, cleaning would help rid her brain of any unwanted notions or ideas. Alex got to it, mopping and sweeping her kitchen. At one point, she even started organizing her dishes and silverware.
Finally, at long last, night had fallen upon the world again.
She waited patiently by the door. Her heartbeat picked up like it always did as she wiggled and buzzed with anticipation.
Nine-forty-five.... Where was he?
Ah, there.
The doorknob turned and Bob's massive red hand slipped in. The rest of his form followed suit as he entered. "Lamb~" He smiled.
"Hey, uhm, hi," Wow, she was already going to ruin tonight as well. Maybe he had forgotten about the things she'd said last night?
He approached her before sitting beside her. Even sitting down, his hulking mass towered above her.
