Chapter 4: New Employment

Some time has passed since Konrad arrived on Terra two months to be exact. Not much has happened in these two months except for Vogelweide getting him some papers and Kazimierzan citizenship which were easy to get as Vogelweide, which Konrad now referred to him as Vogel since it is easier that way, sponsored him and as he is a former campaign knight that gave him a lot easier time with all the bureaucracy that happens there. Konrad left Kawalerielki for the country of Columbia which was the USA of Arknights with the development of WMDs and invading Sargon same as the states did with Afghanistan with them also failing at their objective.  He could've gone to Lungmen as he was much more familiar with the autonomous city but Columbia was much easier to get to. Currently, he resided in the nomadic city of Bunkerhill the Home of two big companies Simon co. and HydeBro respectively. When he arrived he really wasn't the richest as the kazimierzan Marks he had left were few and when he converted them into columbian dollars he had even less than before since the conversion service took a fee. 

Currently, Konrad was residing in his small apartment in the poor part of the city where the infected populace lives. Since Columbia unlike most other countries decided to use them as cheap labour, which compared to different countries like Ursus that outright kill them or send them to gulags out in the northern tundra. Another unique aspect of Columbia is that not only the infected are fucked in the ass but the commoners in general. That didn't mean that Konrad had it easy when he moved into an infected dominant ghetto as he wasn't an infected himself. For Konrad, it was basically as if a white boy moved into a black ghetto. Well either way Konrad was sleeping on a mattress until.

*RING* *RING*

His alarm clock started blaring. He sloppily stood up as it was 6:01 AM and it was his first day in Blacksteel and he was about to get firearm training there. Why did he choose firearm training? Well, when he signed up he was given few options of what preferred weapon he would like training in and he chose firearms because he was familiar with them, on earth. On terra, guns are just complex staves which require Arts (Arts is basically magic used for everything) and he didn't know if he was competent in arts. Well he could use Terran technology with ease and that requires a little bit of arts usage but still, he wasn't sure if would be able to even fire one shot.

Okay, enough of that, he should worry about that later now he should worry about getting there on time. So he sprung up from his mattress and began to put on his armour and after he did when he exited the door of his apartment he was greeted by some no so welcoming faces.

"Hey!"

Someone shouted at Konrad. It was some infected punk who tried to look intimidating but failed as he was short and skinny probably due to not having good nourishment. Either way, he tried to look intimidating to Konrad. Konrad went up to him but remember he has his armour and looked down on the punk.

"What?"

Konrad asked the punk through his helmet.

"You should know that we don't like uninfected folks over here."

Konrad knew that the punk would say something like that trying to sound intimidating. Konrad sighed and said.

"Just shut up. I'm trying to get to work and you don't scare me at all. So for the sake of both of us, just shut the fuck up."

The punk did not take that very well and tried to slash Konrad with a switchblade that hid with Konrad sending a knee kick to the punk's stomach making the punk crumble on the floor. Right after that happened someone opened their door.
