It was a rather warm October morning. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining and a soft breeze was played along the orange colored leaves.

Shirabu Kenjiro, a 2nd year at Shiratorizawa, was making his usual walk to school. Walkman in hand, headphones draped around his neck as he hummed along the latest hits from the radio.

Suddenly, he heard someone shout his name from behind. With a sigh, Shirabu turned around only to see his over enthusiastic neighbor, Goshiki Tsutomu, running towards him.

"Shirabu-san! Good morning!" the younger boy called out with a grin, waving at him.

Shirabu rubbed the back of his neck as he sighed.
It was way to early for this. "Gosh how are you so energetic already? It's 6 AM, you brat." Shirabu muttered, his tone clearly showed that he wasn't in the mood for this.

"Hey don't be so mean!" Goshiki pouted as he crossing his arms like a child. "It's not my fault you're always grumpy in the morning!"

Shirabus brow twitched "Yeah yeah anyways, why are you up so early? Already joined a club or something?" Despite his annoyance, he decided to still engage in a conversation with the younger.

"Actually yes! I joined the volleyball club!" Goshikis mood bounced back, beaming proudly. But wait, did Shirabu just hear him correctly?

"You joined the volleyball club?" Shirabu repeated, now genuinely curious.

"Yes I did! And I'm the only first year who made it as a starter." Goshiki added, puffing his chest out proudly.

Shirabu was actually impressed. Shiratorizawa was famous for its volleyball team, and getting as a first-year, let alone a starter, was something to be proud of. He had to admit that the kid does have talent.

They continued walking in silence for a bit until Goshiki spoke again. "By the way Shirabu-san, my mother wanted me to invite you and your parents for dinner some time!"

Shirabu thought for a moment. Despite Goshiki being loud and energetic, he wasn't all that bad when he wasn't upset or anything, so why not?
"Sure, I'll tell her, thanks for the invitation"

When they arrived at school, they went their separate ways after a quick goodbye. Algebra was up first. Shirabu let out a sigh, he was sharp and quick with his studies, but algebra felt like a drag. Why you might ask? Simple, it's the teacher.

Mr. Nakamoto the No-Nonsense teacher whose patience was thinner than a cassette tape. He wasn't one to hesitate giving out bunch of homework and detention for the dumbest reasons. But oddly enough, he did really like Shirabu.

Finally, it was lunchtime. Shirabu sighed in relief as he was about to open his bento, until one of his classmates called out, "Shirabu, someone's outside asking for you."
