World war

Prologue

The year is 2020. Four years after the end of what as known as the biggest war in human history. Me and my unit are on a convey looking through a small town it East TN, my home town. I ask my commander if we can go up to a small neighborhood. He says yes. We arrive at a ruined house where I once lived. I stare at the place that once was my house, now only some wood and stone, I remember what it looked like before it was destroyed in the war. One of the soldiers transported here from a different part of the US asked me how old I was. I said 20. He said so you were 13 when it happened. I said "yes,why." I was thinking he could tell I once live here or maybe had value to me. He said "I was in the other half of the country when it happened and you were." I cut him off. "I was here living in it." He had a nearly confused face and said "but I thought everyone was evacuated from the east." I looked at the ruined house then back up at him. "I was...my plane was shot down on its way to somewhere in mid United States." He asked if he could here what it was like. All I said was "sit down and here is my story.
