Lilith arrived at the book shop early in the morning, as she always did. She unlocked the door and turned on the lights, taking a deep breath as she prepared for another day of work. The smell of coffee from the nearby café wafted through the air, a comforting scent that helped to calm her nerves. She made her way to the back room, where she kept her personal belongings. Lilith took out her medication and took it with a sip of water, hoping it would help her get through the day. She had been struggling with mental health issues for years, but she tried her best to keep it under control. As she walked out to the main floor, she noticed a few customers already browsing through the shelves. Lilith smiled and greeted them, trying to maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor. She knew that her quiet and reserved nature could sometimes come off as cold or unfriendly, but she didn't want to scare away potential customers.Throughout the day, Lilith helped customers find the books they were looking for, made recommendations, and rang up purchases at the counter. She also spent some time rearranging the shelves and putting out new books that had arrived. It was a routine she had grown used to, and it gave her a sense of calm and order. As the day went on, Lilith's anxiety started to creep up on her. She could feel her heart racing and her hands shaking. She took a few deep breaths and reminded herself to stay in the present moment. It wasn't always easy, but she had learned coping mechanisms over the years to help her manage her anxiety. As the shop started to quiet down in the late afternoon, Lilith took a moment to sit down and have a cup of tea. She closed her eyes and focused on her breathing, trying to calm her mind. She knew that she would have to face her demons again tomorrow, but for now, she was grateful for the peaceful moment. As she locked up the shop and headed home, Lilith couldn't help but think about her past. She had left her hometown and moved to this small town in hopes of starting fresh. But sometimes, memories and feelings from her past would resurface, making it difficult for her to move on completely. But despite her struggles, Lilith was determined to keep going. She had found solace in books and the book shop, and she was grateful to have a job that allowed her to escape into different worlds and stories. And as she closed her eyes that night, she hoped that tomorrow would be a better day.

The next morning, I woke up to my alarm blaring in my ear. I groggily got out of bed and went through my morning routine before heading to work at my bookshop. As I opened the doors, I immediately noticed a strange smell in the air. It was a smell that I normally don't encounter in my shop. I furrowed my brows in confusion and followed my nose to the source. To my horror, I saw smoke coming from the back of the shop. Panic set in as I realized there was a fire.Without wasting any time, I ran inside and quickly assessed the situation. Thankfully, the fire wasn't too big, but it still needed to be put out. With some quick thinking, I grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the flames. It turns out, I had left the kettle on last night and it had caused the fire. I sighed in relief and opened the windows to let out the smoke. Once the fire was out, I grabbed the kettle and placed it outside. After making sure everything was under control, I went back inside and lit some candles to hopefully mask the smell of smoke. It took me about an hour to clean up the mess and get the shop ready for the day. Just as I finished, my first customer walked in. And there she was, in all her glory. The woman who had stolen my heart through a screen was now standing in my bookshop.I tried to keep my cool, but inside I was freaking out. I couldn't believe she was actually here. She walked up to the register and asked me a question, her voice sending shivers down my spine. "Hi, I was wondering if you had this one book. I can't seem to find it anywhere," she said with a smile.I quickly tried to compose myself and replied, "What book might that be, ma'am?" As soon as the word "ma'am" escaped my lips, she chuckled. "Oh please, call me Katie. No need to call me ma'am, it makes me feel old," she said while giggling. My heart skipped a beat when she said her name. Katie. It was such a beautiful name. "But the book I'm looking for is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo," she continued.I couldn't help but smile. That was my favorite book. "I have one in the back, let me grab it for you Katie. And might I say, you look amazing," I said, trying to hide my anxiety."Why thank you. You look pretty cute yourself, darling," she responded with a playful wink.I blushed at her compliment and quickly went to the back to grab the book. As I walked back to the register, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I couldn't believe I was actually interacting with her in person. I rang up the book and she paid before saying goodbye and wishing me a nice day. Throughout the interaction, she kept calling me darling, which made my heart flutter. As I closed the store for the day, I saw a piece of paper sticking out of a book. Curiosity getting the best of me, I grabbed the paper and opened it. Inside, I found a phone number and underneath it was written, "Call me <3 - Katie." My heart skipped a beat and a smile spread across my face. I couldn't believe it. She had left me her number.I couldn't wait to call her and see where this could possibly lead. As I left the shop, I couldn't stop replaying the events of the day in my head. It was a day that I would never forget. The day I met Katie, the woman who had stolen my heart.
