I check my phone for the tenth time this evening, excitedly anticipating what's to come in the next few hours. Gavi had text me earlier asking if he could take me out tonight.
I can't remember the last time we went on a date. With his soccer schedule, games, and me working almost every day, we haven't been able to spend much time together. And if we did, it was either with Pedri or his team.
I fumble with the bracelet on my wrist, adjusting it so it won't fall off. It's a gold chain with a small pendant in the center, engraved with mine and Gavi's initials. He had gotten it for me on our anniversary.
I smile to myself, remembering that day.
The doorbell rings, interrupting my thoughts.
I run to the door, already knowing who's behind it. I throw it open and tackle Gavi in a hug.
"Someone's happy." He jokes, hugging me back.
"Duh, I haven't seen you in like 2 days."
He laughs and presses a long kiss to my lips. "I missed you."
"I missed you too." I say, smiling up at him. Even though he's in a simple shirt and pants, he still manages to look cute as hell. I honestly have no idea what I did to deserve him.
"I have something special planned for us, you ready?" He says.
I nod in response, and he takes my hand, leading me towards his car.
He opens the passenger side door for me with a goofy smile. "M'lady."
"Thank you kind sir." I giggle, sliding into the seat.
He shuts the door before going around and hopping in the drivers side.
He passes me his phone allowing me to be the DJ. I add my favorite song to queue, along with a few others.
The Color Violet streams through the speakers and I turn up the volume, singing along to every lyric.
"We hit the highway 1-5-5 with my whole foot on the dash!!!"
Gavi smiles at me before focusing back on the road. No matter how many times this song is played, I'll never get tired of it.
After my brief singalong session, my curiosity starts to get the best of me.
"Sooo, where exactly are we going?" I ask. He never really clarified what we were doing for our date.
"It's a surprise." He says, a small smirk growing on his face. He knows how much I hate surprises.
I let out an exaggerated sigh, leaning my head back. He laughs at my behavior and intertwines his hand with mine, already knowing how impatient I am.
This is gonna be a long drive...

We arrive at a meadow I've never been to before. It's away from the busyness and bustling of the city, a cute place to relax, or go to after a particularly exhausting day.
I open my door, soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
Gavi comes around and takes my hand, walking towards the sunset. I admire the beauty around me, the way the leaves on the trees sway in the wind, and how the flowers seem to be glowing in the evening sun.
After a couple minutes, he stops walking and looks at me.
"I need you to put on this." He says, holding out a bandana towards me.
"A blindfold? Really?"
"It won't be long amor, promise." He assures me.
He reaches over and wraps the cloth around me eyes, surrounding me in a pit of nothingness.
"Gavi, are you sure about this?"
"Just trust me." He whispers, and takes my hand, leading me through the darkness.

After a few more minutes of walking, Gavi finally stops, and I follow.
"You can take it off now."
I reach up and undo the knot, letting the blindfold fall from my eyes.
I'm blinded by the lights, and slowly the world comes back into focus. We're in the middle of the meadow, surrounded by wildflowers. A small checkered picnic blanket lies before us, decorated with freshly picked flowers and a small picnic basket filled with sandwiches and snacks.
"I come here when I need to get away from the world and thought it'd be a cute spot. Do you like it?"
I think he mistook my speechlessness for something else, because I here an edge of concern in his voice.
"It's beautiful Gavi...thank you." I whisper, still in awe.
He hugs me from behind, kissing my cheek. "Not as beautiful as you."
I let out a small giggle and turn myself in arms so I'm facing him, wrapping my arms around his neck.
"Why are you so cheesy?"
"It's true." He shrugs. And then he leans down, capturing my lips in a small kiss.
I smile, "Shall we go eat?"
"We shall." He takes my hand and leads me towards the blanket.

The evening quickly turned into night, but we were in no hurry to leave.
His head lays in my lap as I run my hand through his toffee curls, playing with them as he looks up at the night sky. I let myself admire him for a moment, the way his curls fall over his forehead and his beautiful chocolate brown eyes.
"Look up at the stars." He says softly, snapping me out of my trance.
I look up, and see the night sky sprinkled with stars of all different sizes, each one unique, as we are. They're like pieces of art floating above the ground. Out of all my years living here, I've never seen the night sky as beautiful as this.
"Wow..." Is all I manage to get out.
"Right? It's amazing." He says, looking up at me.
"It really is." I say, and then lean down, pressing a small kiss to his nose.
I lean back and he adjusts himself so his head is resting on my stomach. I intertwine my hand with his and look back up.
A shooting star flies across the sky, and I can already hear my dad's voice in my head.
"Make a wish."
I look down at Gavi and smile to myself. Living hasn't been the easiest, and life always has it's ups and downs. But right now, laying here with him, stargazing at midnight without a care in the world,
I couldn't wish for anything more.
