The atmosphere was beyond tense. The sky was painted with a shade of grey which only made everything look more gloomy and depressing - just like my mood at the moment.
My fingers were wrapped tightly around the bouquet of flowers held in my hand, because I felt like I might collapse if there was nothing for me to hold onto. I threw a glance at my mother, she wasn't even facing me. She must've been crying.
There was my father's name, Ryu Hwanchul, engraved onto the grey stone.
I flinched when a wet drop of liquid hit right in the middle of my forehead, then came another one on my right cheek. I looked up at the sky and realized it was raining. Raindrops soon rolled down my cheeks one by one, mixed along with my tears.
I gently placed the bouquet against the gravestone and quickly looked away. I wanted to deny everything in front of my eyes. I wanted to say that I was dreaming, and that it wasn't real. I closed my eyes hoping that everything would disappear - but when I opened my eyes, it was still raining, and the gravestone still stood proudly in front of me.
I broke down.
-
"Have you eaten breakfast yet?" Jongin mumbled through the phone.
"No."
"Oh... Go eat something..."
"There's nothing to eat."
"..."
"..."
"How's it going with your mom?"
"We are doing fine, I guess."
"Oh."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"It's so weird talking to you through the phone, and your voice sounds stupid too."
"Jongin I swear, I will literally-"
"Oh! The bell just rang, gotta go to class!"
"You're running away aren't you, don't you dare hang up on-"
"Bye loser."
"W-wait!"
"...What?"
"How do you hang up on this thing?"
"Are you serious?"
After a few minutes of me fiddling with my phone here and there, I finally managed to hang up properly. Jongin kept making fun of me for being so clueless and I was almost on the verge of cursing out loud.
Jongin's suspension was over so he was finally back in school, while I was taking a break. Jongin has told me several times that the teachers were wanting to see me; I told him I will deal with them but honestly, I didn't know how.
I still haven't told him about my decision either.
My phone suddenly began to ring once again. I clumsily tapped on the "accept" key and put it against my ear.
"H-Hello?"
"Hey, open your window."
"Jon...Jongin? Aren't you supposed to be in class right now? Why are you calling me?"
"Yeah whatever, just open your window."
I could literally hear him smiling through the phone. "What... are you planning?"
