Standing on the edge, tears running down my face looking back on my life, I was sure this is what I wanted to do. I heard a young voice coming from behind me.
"Don't do it. I have been there before. I know how you feel right now and you can still save yourself."
Hesitantly I turned my head to see who was talking. It was a girl who looked to be thirty-seven. She had short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, it looked as if she worked in a hospital.
"How on earth would you know how I feel!" I snapped at her.
"Please, just let me explain." The woman said in a calming voice. "Just step down from the ledge and we can go out for coffee and talk."
"I don't have any money, I'm sorry, I don't want to be any trouble." I replied.
"Don't worry, It's on me." She smiled.
I climbed down off the bridge and got into her car. we drove to the nearest coffee shop and we sat and talked for hours. I told her my life story, and she said she could help me.
That night she let me sleep on her couch and brought me to work with her the next morning. She worked in a Rehabilitation center and thought it would be best if I stayed there for a while until I got control of my life.
I was terrified the moment I walked in. There were so many people, I could feel my heart race. I swear the others could hear it too, do people smell fear like animals?
The woman who saved me was my new care taker, her name was Charlotte. She took me to my room where I met my room mate Alex. Alex had Pin straight black hair with a vibrant streak of purple running along her bangs. She was reading a book and shaking vigorously on the corner of her bed. Charlotte had told me that she was a recovering alcoholic and was going through withdrawal symptoms. She also informed me that Alex hadn't talked since she got here three years ago. It didn't bother me much, I'm not the chatty type.
That night I didn't sleep at all. It felt like I needed a dose of heroin. I could feel myself shaking. At about 5'o'clock I wake up to Charlotte shaking me. She has said that she heard screaming coming from my room. This didn't surprise me much, since I was prone to night terrors.
Since I was already awake, I decided to go get breakfast in the cafeteria. The only other person that was in there was a tall guy who wore an over sized hoodie with the hood up covering his face. After I got my food, I turned around to go sit with him, but he was no longer there. There wasn't even a crumb at the table he was sitting at. Was this part of the withdrawals? Or was he actually there?
I sat down to eat, but I was barely able to eat anything since my stomach had shrunk so much from not eating.
I want back to my room and decided to draw to pass the time.
