"I should, shouldn't I? Luckily for you I don't get off on killing people so come on. Get up."

Kaida Usagiyama. Contestant from District 2 that had been chosen for the Hunger Games, the district known for its fine masonry and weaponry manufacturing, along with it being the home of many wealthy residents, resulting in it having a positive relationship with the District. However Kaida for one, despised them. She was already seen as disadvantaged because she was a woman playing in a 'man's game.' How could she love the thing that was essentially sending her off to her own death and mercilessly ruled over them without any true care for their well-being?

She couldn't bring herself to.

Rei Takami. Contestant from District 1 that had been chosen for the Hunger Games, known for their production of luxury items and those picked from this district being known as the 'Careers,' being trained for the Hunger Games since they could walk. Having a headstart since birth and a member of the District's favorite district, he had an advantage and was already seen as a possible victor for the tournament before it had even began.

"I—I can't. I don't want to do this anymore."
"If we can't do this for ourselves then we have to do it for them. They deserve to be remembered and honored and the only way that happens is if we win this."

The Hunger Games begin and these two are thrown into the hellhole that is the game. They are prepped up and put on for show, put through training before they are tossed in without much except their knowledge, natural survival instincts and a weapon. If even that.

"Come on, you can come back from this. You're alright."
"K-Kaida, I can't go—"
"I'm not leaving you behind Rei. I don't care if I have to carry you, come on. We're getting out of here."

What happens when these two enemies cross paths during the tournament when both of their fellow district partners are killed right in front of them? Will they be slaves to the game that they are pawns in and try and kill each other like the sworn enemies they are, or will they join forces and try and make it out of there alive?

"You know, for this to be a life or death situation we're in, I can't help but to feel a bit grateful."
"You're grateful that we're being hunted 24/7 until all but one of us is dead?"
"No idiot, I'm grateful that even if I'm probably going to die soon, that I at least got to meet you."
