I ran through the woods with Riley by my side, arrows shooting past our heads. How could I have been so blind, of course Mateo was going to double cross us, it was only a matter of time. I could hear him getting closer, and knew that at least one of us wasn't going to make it. Suddenly, I heard Riley fall to the ground. Mateo was closing in on her, about to shoot at any second. I ran in front of her an felt an arrow pierce my arm. I screamed out in pain, and collapsed to the ground.
"Nico!!" Riley screamed out, and came to help me up. In that split second i had an idea. I knew Riley could overtake Mateo if she had incentive, and there was no way we could both win.
I yanked the arrow out of my arm and threw it to the side as Riley ran towards me. I then let the blood from my arrow seep into my shirt onto my stomach, making it look like that was where i had been shot. I closed my eyes and lay as still as i could. My cannon went off.
"HOW COULD YOU?!" I heard Riley scream. She picked up her sword and ran into the distance, chasing Mateo. The capitol plane reached down to pick me up, and i clutched my knife to my chest.
This was it.
