Aries and I knew something felt weird and out of place in that moment, we continued to walk, and as we reached the edge of what was, well, what we knew of was left of Lady Lake. We noticed it's completely filled, and the once murky colored water was ocean blue. We both have lived in the city, our entire lives, and never once in our time was it as bright as it is now. I see Aries is going to touch the water, and it doesn't change. It's still holding this immense amount of beauty. I turn and look at our current surroundings, and the trees are still holding their shape, standing but not tall enough to see another leaf grow. The sky is the same gray, and Aries looks to me confused, asking, "What happened? Where'd it go?". She glances away and says, "It was so beautiful." I feel sorry for her and say,"I don't know, it was odd, but beautiful. " She looks up, hopeful but sadness in her eyes. Saying, "I hope to see it again."
Aries and I sat by the edge of the lake, her wishing for the lake to change again and me curious but cautious. We sat and talked as we usually do until it was time to head out. Not long after, we hug and say goodbye before heading to our homes, which you could really call them shacks, of we're being honest, most have one or two rooms and most families had about four people to them. My shack has one room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. There's not much to have here, nor to want. I head to my room and change to get ready for bed. Once I hit the pillow, I am out.
I awake to my door being aggressively knocked on, I get up, throw on some clothes, and to my surprise, I don't see Aries, I see two patrol men looking down at me and handing me a letter from the city, I opened the door to read it
To Ms. Dove Matthiasen
We know what happened yesterday, and we request your presence at the town hall immediately.
Dearest regards,
Town MayorI looked up to see the guardsmen, staring at me before one said, "We have to escort you there. As we walk toward the vehicle, which is more like a teleporter, we slide into the seats, the seat belts automatically, and with one push of a button, we're there. I look to see it's the one building with all its walls intact, stairs actually leading up the door it's like the Taj Mahal, gorgeous, but do we really know what goes on inside? How unfortunate it had to be this place, with the same aspect. We head inside to find one bigger door that leads to who I'm assuming is the Town Mayor. He is sitting at his desk with a bored but evil look. He ushers the guards away and looks at me. He says, "Ahh, Dove, nice to finally meet you." I stay silent, but look at him. He continues, "Okay, well, now that you're here, let's talk about how much you love it here."
I furrow my brows and ask, "What do you mean?". He gets up and says, "She speaks, great, now then as I was saying, tell what me how much you love this town"
I look around the room and say, "It's great." Dryly. The man starts to walk up to me and is much closer as he says to me, "I am Raves, and this is my town and all I want to do make sure my town is loved" with that he walks about his desk. I exhaled the breath I didn't know I was holding and said, "I wouldn't want it to change." As I turned and started walking towards the door, Raves says one last thing to leave me with."I hope that, that's so, for your sake...."
