The Start of Something Ugly

“Erm, excuse me, excuse me miss, miss… Would you like any help?” was all he had to say and I was hooked. His gorgeous blue eyes just made me die right there and then. That was the 12th of July last year. To say that he’s the love of my life would be a lie… honestly, hand on heart. To say this is a love story would be cruel; this isn’t a love story but more an example of how much of an idiot. I’ll start from the beginning and I’ll finish at the end.

I remember the 12th of July like it was some traumatic event; vividly.

I had to go to the supermarket to buy the essentials: Ben and Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream, grapes and pens. (Why are those essentials?  I have no idea. The only plausible explanation I can find is that I’m not normal). I was walking home with the essentials and out of nowhere I hear a voice shout “Erm, excuse me, excuse me miss, miss” I turn round and I see a ginger fellow running up to me, he’s about an inch away from my face when he then says “Would you like any help?”. I; like every other teenage girl, said nothing but was just in amazement that a male who happened to be that gorgeous would even talk to her, let alone ask to take her shopping! He just looked at me waiting for a reply but being an awkward creature I just stood there with my plastic carrier bag, starring into his beautiful blue eyes and planning how I’m going to lure him into my bed.

He repeated the question “Would you like any help with that?”

“Yes” was my reply but I was way too enthusiastic. It was like I was on cocaine or something. Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't. The trust is that I must have been on some form of drugs to fall for him.

He took the plastic carrier bag and asked how long he’d have to carry the bag for. Which resulted in walking home with him and chatting away like we were friends or something. Needless   to say I was on cloud nine… When we got to my front door he gave me my plastic carrier bag back and said ever so casually “What’s your number?” It took literally 5 minutes to respond as I wasn't paying attention to what he had actually said, until he repeated the phrase and looked at me puzzled. I must admit I do go away with the fairies when looking at someone attractive. I always freeze. I then practically shouted in his face very quickly my number. Understandably, he asked me to repeat the number. Understandably I zoomed through my number again like an excited toddler. He asked for the third time. By the ninth time of asking he got all the digits. He said goodbye and went on his way after that, I’ve got to admit I was infatuated by the time I had gotten through the front door.

He was all I could think about . Yes, okay, I understand how stupid I was being but I was in amazed that someone could like me. No one had ever paid attention to me. I honestly thougt I was in love. I was smitten for a stranger. He didn't even know my name. Nor did I his.
