Jolting up in bed, I curse the sound sirens blasting down the street, my head hits the pillow with an aggravated sigh. Turning my head I glance at the clock to see I've made it to 4 in the morning before being awoken by the sounds of New York. Minutes later not being able to go back to sleep, I get up slowly, walking past the clock telling me it's 15 after 4. Sighing again, I head to the shower. Making it last at least 20 minutes top. Climbing out a little clumsy might I add, I then dry myself off, brush my teeth and comb my hair. Stumbling to get ready for the long day ahead of nothing but movies, projects, light reading and volunteering I opt for comfy clothes consisting of leggings and a sweater. Walking down the hall I move to the kitchen were I spot my pot of coffee has reached the end of its brew. I would usually add to much creamier making look like milk, so lately I've been adding a dash slowly making my up to straight black. Walking over past my connecting livingroom I step into the much to early cool morning air on the terrace of my apartment. Watching large groups of cars buzz by trying to head home for the morning or as most, off to work. An hour later my coffee pot is on it's second brew and I get up making my way back into the living room to turn on Netflix. Watching many episodes later of "The Gilmore Girls" and then switching back and forth from "Longmire". I get bored and start packing my tools and gear for my volunteering gig rebuilding housing around the rougher neighborhoods. looking at the clock it only read 6:30. I sigh yet again getting up puting my now packed pack by the door along with my thermos and pale. Heading to the kitchen to wash my mug I set it in the drying rack and go to grab my sunscreen, sun glasses and hat for the day.
I decided to quit my normal job months ago from working at a dinner, thinking it best to give it to a more deserving waitress who needs the tips. Im doing more than fine from the amount of money I inherited from my grandparents and then shortly thereafter my parents who died 7 years ago. So to say I was set was an understatement. I spent my days volunteering for event, charities, clinics, schools, construction etc. Plus my hobbies used up most of my time on the days I had off. Having enough of my fast pace city life. I decided 2 weeks ago that it was time to finally check on the house I had inherited from my grandparents. The last time I had been to my childhood summer home also known as wolf lodge, was probably junior year in highschool. I'm currently 22. Needless to say it's been awhile. It was a lovely house growing up, all wood interior outside and in. Big enough to get lost in with several secret passageways ways leading to secret rooms. Fireplaces in almost every room. A true cabin in the woods. Snapping out of my daydream I look at the clock and see it's 7:40. Picking myself up and throwing on my work boots, I pile on my pack, lunch pale, and thermos before locking the door and setting off towards the jobsite luckily only a block down.

The next day I wake up at three am and dust off my hands as I set the last of my bags and home items in my pickup truck. Walking over to the garbage bins I throw out my bags full of my fridges content which I had cleaned yesterday. Trying to think ahead if I end up staying longer, I wouldn't have to worry about expired food.
Hopping into my truck the dash said 5:30. Looking around my part of the block I can't help but think about if I'm making the right choice in my life. Sending myself off to a place so deep in the woods for a month that if someone was trying to murder me, not even the neighbors across the river could hear. A loud honk and siren started wailing past past me, breaking me from my silly thoughts. With a foot jerking motion my truck learched forward towards wolf river. I became more excited pulling off the highway. Fingers drumming on the wheel to the black keys song "go". My body felt like it was on fire, electricity running through my bones made me aware we closer. Gliding down the backroads which were begging to feel familiar I saw the same old club/bar and began to slow to a steady 25mph as I rolled up through the town limits I was hit with the beautiful hand built sign welcoming me to "Wolf River".
My shoulders relaxed and a wave force slammed into me. I could breathe again.
