    I was running out of clothes to wear. Somehow, I got taller since I have been living with Winn. Winston keeps trying to take me to the store and buy me new clothes, but I refused. That was until today. Today was my 18th birthday. I was officially an adult, so I agreed to let Winn take me shopping. We got to the mall and went to Winn's favorite store. He bought a bunch of clothes for himself, but I didn't find any that felt like me. We kept shopping. Still nothing. We walked in the Under Armour store and i found a lot of shorts t-shirts and new shoes that I liked. I was so excited to wear my new clothes to school tomorrow. We went to go to the food court, walking hand in hand. All the sudden I heard a voice shout " Montgomery De la Cruz". I knew the voice all to well. My dad. He was probably headed to the bar inside the mall. I haven't seen him in months.  He walked up to me and looked me in my eyes. 

 " You faggot. my son is a faggot. I know i raised you better." He spit in my face and before i knew what happened, he hit WInston in the face. All the sudden, unknown strength surged through ,y body. 

 "NO one.... And I mean no one. touches . Mi alma gemela. "

 He hauls his arm back, ready to strike Winston again. I grabbed him and threw him on the floor and after all the years of torture and pain I finally hit back. I beat him bloody. I however stopped before I broke something or gave him internal bleeding. 

 He lie there on the ground cursing and yelling faggot at us. I wiped the blood of my knuckles and resumed holding hands with Winston like nothing ever had happened.  When we got home, he was surprised. 

 " Why di you do that for me?'

"bebé. Eres mi vida. no sé qué haría sin ti. Te amo."

 "I love you too, but everything else, i have no idea what you said.

All I got in return was a sloppy kiss. It was full of love and something I never thought i could feel. HOPE.
