[Introductory note: this starts out from Jaspers point of view.]

As we start down the trail again I can't help but feel at unease about Arista's brother. Ever since he's joined us I've felt strong magical presence. Not only that as we get closer and closer to the Souther kingdom the animal attacks increase. The strength of the animals increase. Then the spell over them strengthens.

Five days later we're about a half days walk away from The Southern Kingdom when we are faced with our hardest attack yet. A fierce fire dragon got sent upon us. This was no baby though this one was full grown.

Everyone charged except Arista and Amy.

~~

Arista ran over to me. "Amy shift into a dragon. Let me on your head, and I can put a thick enough layer of ice to weigh it's head down.

I did as told, and put my head down, and she climbed on. The rest I really couldn't see.

~~~
My task was a difficult one. Amy's dragon head was wobbly, and its was hard to hit a moving target. I coated my staff in ice, and threw it like a spear. I managed to get it to stick in the dragons neck, and that's all I needed. I intensified the ice, and spread it out on. Soon the dragon had its head pinned to the ground. Then Amy and all the others could really go to work. However Amy was the quickest.
I held on for dear life to a lifted scale as she raised up, and landed a claw upon the dragons neck. Blood started to drip from the puncher wounds she made, but the dragon still wasn't dead. "Amy let me down!!!" I shout, luckily she heard me. When I was down she turned back to normal, and she ran with me over to the boys.
The dragon almost burns us as we run over. "Guys I have an idea. Alec let me coat and arrow with ice. Then shoot it down its throat. That will give Zane enough to time to try to cut the things neck off. However Jasper, Amy, he will need help."
They smiled. Then we all scrambled out of the way of a blazing trail of fire. The dam thing could still move just a little bit. Alce handed me and arrow. "Don't make it to thick or I won't be able to shoot it."
I did as was told. Now the hard part was to get the things moth open without getting Alec burned to ashes. I remember my staff, and do something stupid. I charge at the dragon, and it sees me and spews out fire. The one time it was about to directly it me I brace myself, but Zane already has me covered. He rushed to me, and blocked the fire. "Are you crazy?!"
I smile. "No. I just need my staff,"
He picks me up, and carries me back to safety. "That staff is only a base. You can make staff without it. Plus you can't go in for it now. First of all because the dragon is still alive. Second of all your getting paler, and paler. You might not feel the effects of the heat, but I can see them. Then third of all the dragon would only snap it in half. This is the first bad plan you've had Arista."
I was taken back. Mostly by the second fact. I haven't felt over heated, or weak for quite a while, but I haven't checked the crystals temperature. My hand goes to it. Its still cold, but only a little. Like it's almost thawed out. I look at Zane.
"Your right. I do need to pace myself, but we need to beat all the things thrown at us no matter what the cost."
He sighed. "Artists there's a better way at handling this then the staff that wouldn't work."
"Like what?!"
Zane pounders for a moment. "Well I can probly control the dragons fire. So I can bend it out long enough for Alec to shoot the Arrow."
