𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘'𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘 of the interview, the very interview that may score me a photography gig with a hero!

all of my other photography gigs never contained an interview, so this was a new thing to me. hey, i'm not complaining though. getting to show off some of my past projects could be great for me in the future!

i had to take the start of today's shift off from the cafe which made my lovely best friend, aimi, whine.

"y/n!! i don't want to work here alone!" she cried.

"you still have me, idiot." my other best friend, chiharu, blankly claimed.

"yeah, but without y/n it will be boring!" aimi complained.

chiharu gasped in fake hurt at aimi's statement. he then pouted.

"i'm not that bland." he mumbled.

"guys, i have to go to my interview. i promise to be back before lunch rush." i announced.

"NOO!! Y/N DON'T LEAVE ME WITH HIM!!" aimi screeched, while i was heading towards the door.

chiharu was holding her back, while i giggled at the sight.

"bye y/n, good luck and don't get killed please." chiharu muttered.

"thank you chi, love you guys!!"

"love you too y/n!"

"I FEEL LIKE MY BEST FRIEND IS LEAVING ME FOR AN ETERNITY!!" aimi wailed.

i laughed and walked out. i could still hear aimi's cries as i walked down the street.

aimi, chiharu, and i own a cafe named Asa Cafe. it's very popular amongst japan, as we get multiple locals and tourists there everyday. the cafe is located in tokyo, mainly because we all grew up here and didn't want to leave. i feel bad for leaving them before the lunch rush, but i think they'll be fine.

maybe.

i hope so at least.

i brushed off the thought and continued to walk to the interview's location. the meeting was held at the hero's agency. honestly, i wasn't sure which hero i was supposed to be interviewed for.

when i saw the ad, it stated, "looking for a professional photographer for a hero!" but didn't say who it was. there was also a phone number written in bold letters underneath. when i called the phone number, a woman with a stern, yet soft voice, told me the interview would consist of showing headshots and other works i have produced, of my choice, to display to her, the hero's manager. she never once mentioned who this mystery hero was, and just mentioned the address.

i'm okay with that, though. it's like an element of surprise i guess.

when i mentioned it to aimi and chiharu, they questioned if it was even real. i don't blame them for being worried. however, the woman i spoke to over the phone spoke with me in such a formal way, it felt too real. so, i accepted it.

i know you're probably thinking i'm dumb for accepting the interview, but this could be my big break! i'm one step closer to possibly being a hero's personal photographer!

no, literally i'm one step closer. all i needed to do was knock on the door and-

"y/n l/n?" a woman with a very singsong voice spoke while slinging the door open.

"that's me!" i responded with the same energy.

"follow me please!" she signaled behind her.

"i'm sure you're very excited to be interviewed to be the personal photographer of hero chargebolt!" she exclaimed.

wait, what?

"chargebolt?!" i shouted, making a total fool of myself.

everyone stopped their work and examined me. i crumpled under the many eyes staring at me.

"yeah, you didn't know?" she questioned.

"his manager never explained who i would be interviewing for." i peeped.

she giggled, "it's okay! there's no need to whisper. trust me, it wasn't too embarrassing."

"thank you so much," i replied.

she nodded and continued to walk as i followed behind her.

eventually, we stopped in front of an office.

"here we are!," she announced, "oh, and my name is emiyo!"

"it's nice to meet you emiyo! thank you again!"

she walked off while i stood at the door, contemplating on whether or not i should knock. with new information of who i would possibly be taking pictures of as a job, i grew even more nervous than before.

'of course it had to be the hero i have had a crush on for years.'

you see, chargebolt has always caught my eye, ever since i turned 17. he's been everything i've ever wanted, even without knowing him. he's always been so pretty and so charming, those glistening golden eyes-

you know what, i'll stop talking.

'here goes nothing!'

i knocked on the door and, after a few seconds, the door was opened. i observed who i assumed would be his manager. she was an older woman, her face littered with freckles, easily taking the attention away from her slightly wrinkled face. she had flowy, black hair, that only reached to her shoulders. her eyes were a shade of green that resembled an emerald.

"miss l/n, am i correct?" she spoke.

"yes ma'am!" i replied with a smile.

she returned my smile with one of her own.

she sat me down in front of a desk, while she sat down on the other side.

"so, miss l/n, we're gonna start off with asking some questions, then you may show some of your works."

"that sounds good with me!"
