(Iris's POV)
"Well! I think that should do it!" I said, standing up and wiping my hands off. "The lightbulb started overheating and melted the cover to the camera chip. Luckily the chip is okay. I just replaced the lightbulb and put a new cover over the chip. That should fix the problem." Jinny clapped for me, as she was in the corner of the room with her husband. "Thank you!" Stephanie McMahon exclaimed. "I honestly never would have thought the lightbulb was the issue." I smiled at her.
"Nice job Iris!" Giovanni said, also congratulating me. I blushed slightly. "Th-thanks you guys..." But Stephanie placed a hand on my shoulder. "No, thank you! This show relies on cameras to allow everyone worldwide to view our show! It is super important that they all function the way they should." I was taken aback. Did my job really have that much importance?
"Thank you so much for flying in from the UK." Triple H cut in. "It's so great to see one of my best workers again." I did my best to nod in return. "It's great to see you again as well, sir." He smiled at me. I got nervous again and walked back over to my friends. I wasn't very familiar with Gunther or Ludvig, but I could find safety with Jinny and Giovanni. So I found my way over to them and sat down to calm myself.
Jinny rubbed my back as Triple H discussed something with Gunther, Ludvig, and Giovanni. I wasn't paying much attention, because I found it rude to listen in on others' conversations, but I heard Hunter say something about possibly getting 'Imperium' back together after Clash at the Castle.
Clash at the Castle? That was months away!! How could someone already be thinking about that?
Well, anyways, it's almost lunchtime. That flight took until 6 a.m. and I've barely eaten anything since then. I peeked over at Jinny and whispered; "I'm hungry..." She burst out laughing. "Of course you are!!" Everyone looked at us.
-Time Skip-
We were now in catering, And while everyone else was eating a salad, I had a whole-ass chicken thigh on my plate. Okay, I wasn't the healthiest eater, but I couldn't resist my cravings! The sooner I satisfied them, the better!
A blonde-haired woman passed by our table. I believe her name was... Carmella? She took one glance at my plate and laughed. "Ever heard of a salad, fatass??" Everyone instantly looked up at her. I stopped eating. Carmella laughed at my reaction and walked away.
(Giovanni's POV)
Jinny scowled at Carmella before looking over at Iris. "Don't mind her sweetie, you keep eating." But Iris set her fork down and pushed her plate away. "I'm... Actually not hungry anymore..." And then she got up and walked out of the area.
I sighed heavily. "Can't people ever just leave her alone?" Jinny sighed as well. "Clearly not. The poor thing already can't see color correctly. And then people have to comment on things like her clothes or the stuff she chooses to eat?" Gunther put his hand on his wife's shoulder. "Calm down, hun." Jinny let out a breath. "I know, I know... It just pisses me off that some people have no respect for those who have struggled in life..."
Ludvig patted me on the back. I gave him a small smile before eating the last bit of my food. "I'll go find Iris," I said as I stood up with my plate, grabbing Iris's as well. "You guys can keep eating." Jinny nodded and turned her attention back to her salad and said "Give her a hug for me..." I nodded and walked off, throwing the plates away on my way out.
I walked through the hallways, trying to listen for any signs of Iris being near. As the minutes passed, I became more and more worried. She was normally easy to find!
Then out of the silence I heard a shrill scream. And it was like my life turned into a horror movie. "Iris?" I called. No response. "Iris?!" Dead silence. "IRIS?!" Then there was another scream. I began running in the direction of the screaming, as it continued.
I opened every single door in the hallway the noise was coming from until I got to the very last door. I kicked it open and saw Iris curled up against the wall, screaming and crying like she was being abused. I rushed over to her and got down on my knees. "Iris! Are you okay?!" She looked up at me, her eyes were glassy with tears steadily flowing down her cheeks. The look in her eyes was as if she'd just seen a ghost.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!!" She shrieked, trying to shove me away. She was in some sort of daze. I grabbed her arms, pulling her to me. "Iris! Fucking- Snap out of it!!" But she continued to scream, desperately trying to push me off.
Then I got an idea of what was happening. I'd heard of PTSD episodes, but I never imagined they could be so... Scary. She acted like she was going to die if she didn't get away from me. I saw a small empty vase on a nearby coffee table, along with a sink in the corner of the room. I let go of her and stood up, grabbing the vase and going over to the sink to fill it up with water.
My heart was racing. I turned the water off once the vase was full and went back over to Iris, who was now shaking. I grabbed her hands so she couldn't hit me and splashed the water on her face.
Her screaming stopped and she gasped for air. I believe she realized what had just happened to her because she took one look at my worried expression and continued to cry. It was more hushed this time, as if she was trying to apologize but she just couldn't form the words to do so.
I let go of her hands. "Iris..." I spoke softly, my heart rate slowing down. "What the hell...?" She leaned into me and buried her face into the crook of my neck. I could tell she needed a moment, so I wrapped my arms around her still shaking frame and hugged her to me. "Shh beautiful... You're okay now..." I whispered to her. "It was just an episode... It was in your head."
Her breathing started to slow and the shaking became less aggressive. She even hugged me back at one point as she began to stop crying. And as soon as she was content enough, she pulled away from me. Her head was down and she was wiping at her face with her sleeve. "Giovanni, I-" She began, trying not to cry again. "I'm so sorry... I-I don't know what j-just came over me..."
I shook my head and lifted her chin, making her look at me. "Don't you dare apologize." I told her firmly. "None of that was your fault." She sniffled and just nodded in return, looking down again.
I moved a strand of hair away from her face. "Did Carmella stress you out or something?" Iris must've known what I was thinking had happened to her. She moved my hand away from her face before wiping her nose with her sleeve. "N-not exactly..." She explained. "What she said just reminded me of my past and... That's what stressed me out."
I sat down fully. "Well, hey. I'm here to listen. Tell me about it." She looked up at me with sad, yet grateful eyes. "That's if you're comfortable with sharing, of course." I added. She sniffled again before nodding.
"Y-yeah... Okay..."
