Madeline was sitting in Brody's basement on the couch. Madi was always the tagalong little sister that no one wanted to hang with. She started doing stuff to try and hang out with them like going to parties, to the mall and going shopping with Maxine, Abby, and Nora but the only place she felt truly wanted is sitting here on this couch next to him. Madi had always thought that he didn't see her until Halloween night, Maxine threw a party, and Madi didn't dress up because she never liked Halloween.

Madi was jerked back into reality when she felt a beercan hit the back of her head. She turned around and saw her sister standing there ready to throw another one. "WHAT THE FUCK ABBY!" Madi yelled at her sister and went to the bathroom.

While she was trying to look at the back of her head she heard Press yelling at someone. She could only imagine that Abby threw a beer can at him too. She didn't think anything of it until she felt hands on the back of her head. Madi looked into the mirror and saw Press looking at where her sister threw the can at her. "You're fine. It's not bleeding."

His voice was like honey to her ears. She smiled at him. "Thanks, Press." She could feel her cheeks starting to get warm so she looked away.

Press smiled and let his hands drop to her shoulders. "Are you okay?" He twirled her hair in between his fingers and smiled to himself.

"Yeah, I should probably go. Abby doesn't want me here so I should probably go."

Madi went to leave but Press grabbed her arm. "So what if your sister doesn't want you here? She needs to know she doesn't get everything she wants in life." Press looked at Madi and smiled.

Madi smiled back and wanted to kiss him but didn't know how he felt. She walked back into the lounging area of the basement and sat on the couch. She pulled her legs up to her chest and put her chin on her knees.

She felt a hand on her shoulder so she looked up and saw Press. "Here." He handed her an ice pack for the back of her head.

"Thanks." She smiled and held it to her head. Press sat down beside her and started playing his game again.

Madi had closed her eyes wanting to shut everyone out but ended up falling asleep. She woke up when she heard Brody yelling that his parents are on their way home and that they all had to leave.

She opened her eyes and felt an arm on her side. She looked up and saw Press playing his game still. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Sorry." She turned around and saw that Abbey, Nora, and Maxine had already left. "You've got to be shitting me."

Press finished his game and looked at Madi. "What?" He put the controller back where he got it and walked over to her.

"My ride left." She rolled her eyes and went to stand up but almost fell over when Press grabbed her arms. He stood there for a few seconds to make sure she had her balance before he let go. "Sorry. I'm just tired." She sat back down and rubbed her temples.

Press sat beside her and laughed. "Why do you always apologize for everything?" He looked at her and grabbed her jacket.

Madi smiled and took her jacket putting it on. "I don't know. I guess it's because everything I do bothers someone." She stood up again and headed for the stairs.

"Not everyone. You do have friends here." Press followed her up the stairs and outside.

"Sorry." She said and laughed a little afterward. "I'm just gonna walk home. Bye." She smiled and started walking down the sidewalk.

Press caught up with her. "I'll walk you home." He looked at her and smiled.

Madi smiled and looked up into his beautiful blue eyes. "You don't have to. This wouldn't be the first time I'd have to walk home." Shs said, smiling and crossing her arms. She looked behind her and took a step closer to Press.
