"A little help here would be very much appreciated," Rory said eyeing Tristan out of the corner of her eye. He was leaning casually against the door, smirking. Him and his stupid, sexy smirk. At that moment Rory wanted nothing more than to wipe that smug smirk off his face but alas! They had to finish unloading the boxes into Luke's truck to move to their new home and someone wasn't much of a help.
"You talking to me, Mary?" Tristan asked striding towards her side. He grabbed her waist and pulled her towards him, his chin resting on her shoulder.
"Nooooooo," Rory said, drawing the 'o' out exaggeratingly, "not you. I'm talking about my other boyfriend, John," She turned towards Tristan so that they were close enough to kiss, oh she shouldn't be thinking about that right now, no, she has to move the boxes, yes that right....boxes, not Tristan or his stupid soft lips but, the boxes, yes, she had to move them—
"Oh, is that so?" Tristan said gently kissing her neck. Rory bit her lip, this certainly was not helping with her current situation.
"Yeah," Rory said shakily, "John is so much more nicer than you, he always helps me."
"Oh yeah?" Tristan said now kissing her jaw.
"Yeah." Rory breathed and then Tristan finally brought his lips to her drawing her in for a kiss and breaking it off quickly, making Rory audibly groan at the loss of his lips.
"The boxes, Rory?" Tristan asked chuckling.
"Yeah, the boxes," Rory grumbled. Tristan took the box from her hands.
"Where to keep this?" Tristan asked, lifting his hands to show the box in question.
"Oh, Luke's truck," Rory said, "it's parked just outside." Tristan followed Rory outside and there it was, Luke's familiar green truck parked, indeed, just outside the house.
"Is that all?" Tristan asked, placing the box inside the truck.
"Yeah," Rory said, softly, "that's all."
There was a long silence after those words left Rory's mouth, they both knew this was a big step, moving in together like that. That indeed is one hell of a big step in a relationship. Though Rory wouldn't ever admit this out aloud she was scared, very scared. What if...what if everything came crashing down? What if this all goes to hell? What if? And of course, Rory knew better than to doubt Tristan after all, she trusted him with her life. She believed in him. In them. But that didn't stop her from worrying about all kinds of things after all this was, as she already said, one hell of a big step for them. She was going to be fine after all why wouldn't she be? Everything was going to be fine—
"Rory," Tristan's said, finally breaking her unpleasant train of thought, "I know you are scared; I am too. But there's nothing to be scared of." He said squeezing her hand and looking deeply into her eyes as if trying to somehow assure her with his mere gaze and it worked. It worked because of course it would. She squeezed his hand back and held on to it. That apparently was enough of a confirmation Tristan wanted because he gave her a chaste kiss and opened the door to the truck for her.
"Always a gentleman," Rory said giggling.
"Only for you," Tristan winked at her and closed the door behind her, and seated himself in the driver's seat.
"Hey, Mary?" Tristan asked, so low that even Rory had difficulty hearing them.
"Yeah?" Rory whispered.
"Remember how we met?"
Oh, she remembered, "Oh, yeah," she said, giggling.
Tristan chuckled and smiled at her and leaned towards her to kiss her, soft and slow. He broke the kiss and looked at her, really looked at her. He was looking so very vulnerable like that, his emotions raw on his face.
