Oh StarClan what is it Birdpaw thought. An icy tingle had gone down her spine with the bitterness of leafbare. She heard a bark from behind the bushes. It was a fox.
As Birdpaw raced through the bushes, the reek of fox and crowfood became stronger. She burst through the bushes to meet her mauruder.
Birdpaw's mouth slowly gaped open as she saw the awful scene. A fox was standing over Adderpaw, who was covered in awful bites and scratches. Her brother seemed so frail compared to the fox. The fox snarled and turned it's head slowly around to meet Birdpaw. Blood dripped from it's fangs.
Oh...StarClan...no...NO...NO! Birdpaw unsheathed her claws and yowled so loudly that she couldn't even believe that came from her mouth. The fox growled and turned away from Adderpaw, who was breathing weakly.
"How dare you attack him!" Birdpaw screeched as she threw herself into the fox. The fox yelped in surprise as the cat scratched its nose. It regained its confidence fast as it snarled and shook its head back and forth to get Birdpaw off.
Birdpaw howled as she landed in the dust. She hissed and clambered to her paws but it was futile. The fox clamped down hard on Birdpaw's neck with razor sharp fangs. The apprentice screeched and tried to get away. Blood splattered on the ground.
The fox let go of Birdpaw and sent her flying towards a line tree. The apprentice hit it hard and slumped to the ground. A heavy wave of darkness came over Birdpaw as she closed her eyes. Goodbye IceClan she said in a silently. Everything became numb and quiet as she lost consciousness.
