Master of Air [Ninjago Fanfic]

Chapter 2- The Tropical Temple

The ninja helped Nya to make a few tweaks to the Bounty before flying off. She stood in the command center her hand hovering over a giant red button, which activated the thrusters.

"What's wrong?" Jay's voice almost startled Nya, but she kept her eyes on the button.

"I'm thinking about the last time we took off, and what happened. How it all led to people getting hurt and the Bounty getting destroyed again." She sighed, "But, of course, we always recovered so there's nothing to fear, right?" She turned to Jay, who stood still. Truth was, Jay had only meant to grab a soda from the fridge in the next room, and only decided to stroll through the command center to say hi to his girlfriend.

"Just push the button, because just like you said, everyone always recovers." Jay kept walking through the room and to the kitchen. Just as he opened the soda, Nya pressed the button. The thrusters started up, rocking the whole ship, and this caused Jay to spill soda all over himself.

"Danggiiiit." He whined and started taking paper towels to clean up. Meanwhile Nya had her eyes on a new adventure, a new road, and a possible cure for Sensei.

"I hope that prophecy is right, otherwise we're in a lot of trouble."

---------In the next room------

Kai turned on the tv in the next room, and put his legs up on the coffee table. It was actually more of a hot chocolate table, because that's all Jay used it for in the winter time.

The news lady had been standing in what looked like a hospital with people in almost all the cots. "A epidemic is spreading across New Ninjago City. Reports are showing people getting horrible nightmares and some people even claim to be getting headaches. If you have or know someone who has gotten these symptoms, remain at home. There's nothing the doctors can do except wait it out. I'm Sandra Coarse, reporting from Ninjago City Hospital." The screen flickered and changed to the newsroom. There was no one sitting at the counter, the two swivel chairs were empty. A guy with headphones came walked into the room and looked into the camera.

"I apologize but our anchors have left due to extreme headaches preventing them from their job. We will be back shortly." The guy walked off screen and the tv flickered to a kids show.

Sensei was right, Kai thought, the Dream Lord is trying to take over New Ninjago City, we must act fast.

He started to rush over to the next room, where Nya was, but decided against it, remembering what he had read in the old scroll, the part that he hadn't spoken aloud. He stopped walking towards the command room and turned around, going back to the TV room to watch the kids shows. As the Twinkle Fairy made everyone better on the kid's show, Kai's mind was elsewhere. What he would do when the time came to do what the prophecy had asked.

After an hour of flying, they had finally arrived on the coast, where Lloyd was. The ninja stretched before exiting the boat. They had changed their outfits, to be suitable for the hot climate outside. Everyone was not wearing shorts and tank tops, a change from the slightly cooler New Ninjago City.

"Oh my-" Jay began looking up at a temple located a couple yards from the shore of the beach that was nearby. The temple was gleaming in the sunlight, making it look as if it was made of gold. Jay started walking towards it, mesmerized by the glints that were being reflected. Everyone else cautiously walked towards it.

"Sensei says in his journal that this is the temple where Lloyd meditates. So be extra quiet, if he is meditating." Nya mentioned as an excuse to break the silence.

"And Lloyd didn't think to invite us." Kai joked, "Actually, I see why he wanted to keep it to himself, it's really nice here." All the other ninja silently agreed and continued on their way to the temple. When Jay was lifting his foot to start up the steps of the temple, he stopped and put his hands out to stop the others too.

"Guys, I'm not the only one that's sees that, am I?" Everyone followed where he was looking and gasped.

"Do you think that's him?" Cole asked out loud.

"There's a 84% chance and climbing that it is indeed him." Zane added.

A bright golden light flashed above them, imitating the suns glow from the opposite side of the sky. Yelling could be heard, that sounded familiar to the entire group. "That is him!" Kai shot up the steps past Jay, who was close behind. When they reached the top, it was indeed the green ninja who was sitting, cross-legged, with his back to the group on the top of the temple. The fellow ninja was wearing only green shorts as he yelled again and another burst of energy pulsed from his body, almost blinding the others, who he still hadn't noticed yet.

"LLOYD!!" Kai shouted, once the blast had passed. The blonde screamed, this time in surprise, and jumped into a fighting stance aimed at the group, until he realized who he was pointing at.

"Guys? What are you doing here?" Lloyd lowered his hands and walked over to them. "Hey now is not a great time, because my dad just went under." Everyone stared at him, looking confused. "Ya know, he went into dreamland, the long rest..."

"GARMADON IS DEAD?!" Jay shouted, and everyone looked surprised.

"No! He's in a coma, am I that hard to understand?" Lloyd asked.

"Wow, really? Sensei Wu is also in a coma!" Cole exclaimed, "And we know why Garmadon is in a coma too!"

Lloyd's face lit up like a lightbulb. "Does that mean you guys know how to bring him back? C'mon, follow me to the monastery." Lloyd ran down the steps, turning back only to motion for the others to follow.

"Poor guy, he's going to be so upset when he finds out. I guess I'll tell him." Nya called leading the way to the monastery, Lloyd's trail in the sand guiding her. They maintained a steady run up until they found themselves in front of a large monastery that was missing it's other half.

The ninja walked inside and weren't surprised to see Lloyd talking to a tired looking Misako. Her face lit up too, and she started smiling. "Is what Lloyd tells me true? Is Wu really in a coma? Do you have a cure for it?" She looks at the group, waiting for someone to answer her.

That's when Nya stepped forward, and started talking. "Sensei is in a coma, and we have an idea of how to get them out of a coma. And some bad news." Nya went on to tell them about the journal they found, the Dream Lord, and about the quest. "And that's why we need Lloyd, to unveil the sixth ninja and find the Dream Lord."

"Well, I don't know if Lloyd would go-" Misako turned to look at Lloyd.

"Of course! If there's a chance to bring Dad back... plus meeting a new ninja." Lloyd looked around the room, then added, "It's also been boring around here, meditating by myself. Going on this quest would give me the excitement I haven't felt in awhile."

"Well, go pack up, and we'll be waiting on the ship." Nya spoke then turned around to leave. The rest of the guys followed, while Lloyd went up the stairs, probably to his room. The sun beat down on their backs as they walked back to the Bounty.

Then Cole broke the silence, "Man, it's so nice to see Lloyd again. Last time I saw him... Was when he defeated the Overlord."

"I remember that, when we thought we'd lost hope. But he helped us, you know, because a ninja never quits." Kai spoke laughing slightly.

"Yeah, a ninja never quits." Jay echoed, a ghost of a smile on his face.

They reached the Bounty after a couple minutes of walking, and relaxed as they waited for the Green Ninja to arrive so they could take off.

"Hey Kai," Jay asked as he leaned on the side of the Bounty keeping an eye out for a Lloyd. "Where are we going next?"

"Something like Mt. Ultimate." Kai responded, climbing down a ladder to stand next to Jay.

"No, it's something like Mt. Ultima." Cole said, as he also climbed down the ladder, and joined them.

"Well, whatever it is, I hope it's not too far away," Lloyd said, appearing from a cluster of Palm trees. "cause we've got a Dream Lord to stop."
