thursday is donghyuck’s least favorite day because he’s stuck at school from 8 am until 5 pm, leaving him completely drained. right at 12 noon, he headed straight to the cafeteria and made his way to the table where he and his friends usually sat. there he saw renjun, yangyang, chenle, and jisung.

“hi guys!” he placed his things next to chenle and took a seat.

“aren’t you ordering food?” renjun asked, raising an eyebrow. donghyuck shook his head. “it’s only halfway through the day, and you’re already out of energy?”

donghyuck scoffed, “i hate thursdays!”

his friends chuckled. they knew him well; donghyuck despised staying at school and would much rather be lying in bed or playing playstation all day. despite this, they found it puzzling that even though he disliked school, his grades were always high, and he never failed.

“i just got here too. want me to grab you some food?” jisung offered.

donghyuck’s face lit up. “yes, please.”

“what would you like?”

“anything. just no veggies.” jisung nodded, stood up, and went to the counter to order food for them both.

donghyuck raised an eyebrow, wondering where their other friends were. “where are jeno, jaemin, and hendery?”

“jeno went to find hendery on the field,” chenle answered, eyes glued to his phone, watching a basketball game.

“i was chatting with jaemin earlier; he said he had to finish something for his club,” yangyang added, tearing open a bag of chips and offering some to renjun.

a few minutes later, jisung returned with their food. donghyuck thanked him and began eating. the group laughed at yangyang’s jokes until, eventually, jeno, jaemin, and hendery joined them.

“hyuck!” everyone looked as jeno called donghyuck’s name. “do you know a guy named sungchan?”

donghyuck frowned. sungchan was a completely unfamiliar name to him. he was sure he’d never heard it before, so he shook his head to answer jeno’s question.

jeno nodded, a smirk forming as he prepared to spill some gossip.

hendery, noticing jeno’s smirk, urged him, “come on, spill it.”

“ooh, tea!” renjun and jaemin both squealed. they loved some good gossip.

chenle snapped his fingers as he remembered. “oh, i know him! he’s a transfer student from two months ago and the new member of the basketball team.”

renjun’s eyes widened. “the tall transfer student?”

hendery nodded. “yeah, that’s him. i heard he’s got quite a few fangirls.”

“i’d be surprised if he didn’t. with looks like that, i thought he was an actor,” yangyang commented.

jisung turned to jeno, frowning. “what does any of this have to do with donghyuck?”
