I used to love everything that was even remotely water-related but I never used to know why. I thought that it was normal, with consideration for the few others' love for the rain. My connection to water was different though. It talked to me. But not in the way a person talks to another person. It was almost a mute conversation, nothing was conversed, no knowledge gained, and only I understood.
As a child I would run out into the rain and get saturated and refused cover until the rain came to a halt. Following this I would continue my admiration by surrounding myself with the water of a bath, just so I could relish having another ten minutes with what seemed my best friend. Just considering the simple notion and idea of water left a strange trance upon me; it mesmerized me, taking me into a hypnotic bewitching and I always felt graced within its presence. When the water froze in the coldest of days within the winter seasons, I would roll around in the snow, hold it in my hands and wait for it to melt, watching it trickle down my hand only to fall back into the freezing, white substance. The sun would fall below the horizon and I would eventually return to the warmth of my home, usually freezing but satisfied.
I still enjoy the rainfall even more after my revelation of being, after my reason for existence within this world began to unravel, as fate had decided my life was to be more than that of an ordinary person's. I was happy at one point in my life but now I am left with a deep scar, a scar that refuses to fade and haunts me with every breath and every blink. Time has left me with few things to be grateful for... Water seems to be the only object, albeit inanimate, that will be with me forever, should the time come where that ceases to exist, so will my being.
