"Hyung, what's the date today?" Jungkook managed to blurt out, his heart still pounding against his chest as he tried to understand what was going on.
Jimin only tilted his head, his eyes disappearing into crescents as he gave a confused smile, "Oct...

What feeling do you think hurts the most?
Unrequited love? Betrayal? Heartbreak?
Jungkook never thought he would find himself in a position where he would have to experience all three at once.
"Do I look okay?" A soft voice had asked, bringing Jungkook's attention across the room.
In front of him sat his best friend (and long-time crush), Park Jimin.
The other was dressed in an entirely white suit, which Jungkook thought contrasted perfectly with Jimin's silky black hair and tanned skin.
He always thought the older male was perfect, and it was definitely difficult to deny that when looking at his plump lips, and mesmerizing eyes.
Even without makeup, Jimin looked ethereal but, he wouldn't argue with the fact that the rosy tint on his eyelids, lips, and cheeks complimented him well.
"More than okay, you look beautiful," Jungkook answered honestly, taking a step forward to adjust the pink flower clipped to Jimin's blazer.
Jimin smiled after hearing the younger's answer, unable to hide his happiness.
"It means a lot for me to hear that from you. Normally you would just call me a dork or something," Jimin giggled.
Jungkook chuckled slightly at the other's response, letting his hand linger on Jimin's chest for a moment longer. He couldn't help but gaze at the older male, taking in his beauty one more time.
Jimin returned his gaze fondly, showing off his teeth in a cute smile, "I'm glad you're here, I wouldn't want anyone else as my best man."
Jungkook felt himself cringe at the word, a quick expression of pain flashing across his face.
Of course, this wasn't his and Jimin's wedding.
No.
He was just the best man.
Jungkook swallowed, feeling a growing lump in his throat as he tried to speak, "Yeah, of course. I wouldn't miss this moment for anything in the world," He'd managed to utter, placing his hands on either side of Jimin's shoulders.
The smaller male sighed softly at his actions, tilting his head to lean on Jungkook's fingers. For a split second, he noticed an unknown emotion cross Jimin's face and before he could stop himself the words left his mouth.
"Why the look?" He'd asked gently, raising his hand to sweep away the hair that covered the smaller male's eyes.
Jimin seemed a bit perplexed by Jungkook's question, his brows furrowed for a moment before he relaxed.
"It's nothing, I'm just nervous..." The raven-haired boy sighed quietly, pursing his lips together tightly as he looked down.
"Are you sure?" Jungkook asked, lightly trailing his fingers down the front of Jimin's blazer.
Jimin seemed to hesitate for a second, the corners of his mouth twitching as if he wanted to say something.
"Yeah," The other finally breathed out, plastering a soft smile on his face, "Yeah, I'm sure."
Jungkook wanted to ask Jimin to elaborate. He knew something was bothering him, but despite his heart telling him to, he left it as it was.
"If you say so, Jiminie," As the sentence had left his mouth, a loud knock echoed through the room.
The pair turned to glance at the door, seeing their friend Seokjin.
"It's time," He had informed, gesturing for Jungkook to follow him.
The youngest male in the room swallowed back the heavy feeling in his throat as he made his way over to Seokjin. It was like he was suffocating but, from his own emotions. It was selfish of him to feel that way, and he knew that.
Do something, say something.
Jungkook thought to himself, glancing back at Jimin for a moment.
Don't lose him.
Gripping onto the front of his tux, Jungkook fought the feeling in him. With that, he exited the room.

Jungkook rarely saw Jimin anymore.
After the wedding day, the two stopped hanging out.
Jungkook always knew that it would be that way but never expected it to hurt so badly.
Heartbreak. Loneliness.
He groaned, taking another drink from the bottle in his hand.
It tasted like shit, and burned his throat as it went down but, he didn't mind. It kept him from thinking, and regretting but, it could only keep those thoughts away temporarily.
Resting his head against his knees, Jungkook let a small sob escape his lips.
Why did he let Jimin go? Why couldn't he have told him? Why wasn't he good enough?
Jungkook's mind felt numb, buzzing lightly as he glanced up at his window.
The night was clear and filled with stars.
He remembered gazing at the stars with Jimin back then, and the older had always teasingly said, "If you wish on one of these stars, it'll come true."
Jungkook had only laughed at the thought back then, it would be crazy if he could just look upon a star and ask it for something impossible.
A low chuckle escaped his lips as Jungkook leaned back against his bed.
"I wish that I could tell Jimin how I felt. I wish that I hadn't been so oblivious and," Jungkook choked out, feeling the tears silently stream down his face, "I wish that I didn't lose my best friend."
He knew that the words he said wouldn't change anything but, it relieved him to finally get his regrets off his chest.
As he lay in his spot, Jungkook couldn't help but hope that when he woke up, things would be different.
But that was a stupid thought.
Taking one last swig from the bottle in his hand, Jungkook closed his eyes.
"I wish," He whispered, his body falling limp as the alcohol and exhaustion hit him, "That I could just have one more chance."
As the last words left his lips, Jungkook felt the heavy lump in his chest disappearing.
Unbeknownst to the now passed-out Jungkook, a shimmering star had made its way across the sky as he uttered his wish.
