It spreads like a disease,
From one person to another.
The side effects are deadly,
And you begin to smother.

It eats you alive,
Tearing away at your soul.
Until you can't take it anymore,
And it claims a higher death toll.

It creeps into your eyes,
Reddening them to the point of tears.
It climbs into your heart,
Numbering your years.

Now it flows in your blood,
Coursing through every vein.
Spreading to each limb,
All efforts to be saved are in vain.

The disease is a monster,
Contagious in every way.
The death toll climbs
Higher every day.

She used to be fine,
Laughing and happy.
Then she met her,
Sad and sappy.

Now she sits and cries,
I miss her, I do.
And I know why she's like this,
It's because of you.

You were infected,
But you couldn't say that.
For you would be shunned,
And called ugly and fat.

And you would get sicker and sicker,
As it took hold of your brain.
You would begin to drown again,
So it's for your gain.

And now she's sick,
Contaminated with it.
The disease that takes over,
And on her, it's not a good fit.

So beware the disease,
It kills over time.
The disease that survives off,
Those who will die.

You know when you have it,
It's clear as day.

This disease is called Depression
And it is
Contagious.
In every way.
