For a while now, I wanted to do a Two Faced Charade-inspired story. I adore the album as you know, and it brings me comfort given my love for dark and creepy things. Now that I can use my Chromebook again, I recently got a charging tip like I needed, I decided it was a good time to write the story finally. I thought the best ship for this would be Kiku x Slade given it just seemed to make the most sense.
I'd love your feedback on this first chapter to see if I should continue the story or not. Though if the story is continued, I do admit it may not be updated constantly and more of when I have motivation.
If I continue the story, each chapter will be inspired by the songs in the same order as the album, or at least that's what I have planned at the moment.
This story is told from Slade's perspective primarily, not in the first person, but is written to suit him, not Kiku. So saying that, please feel free to correct me concerning the story if you think this version of Slade is inaccurate. Kiku's perspective may be explored, but this would be later on in the book.
Though obviously, there'll be differences from the album, short story, and film originally made by the band. I may give a happier or more optimistic end, or I may not.

Given I tend to go back and reread my works, some edits have been made in an attempt to improve the quality of this first chapter.

Anyways...

Welcome to the show.

The darkness provided quite a beautiful shield for him as he sat on the swing in his backyard, his feet helping him to rock back and forth, the lit cigarette that he held in his hand between two fingers being the only thing that gave him away in his beloved darkness.

From his spot on the swing, he could see into her back window perfectly. She was his everything, his true love, his one and only. She just didn't know that yet.
She was wearing an oversized sweater that was basically a dress on her. She was listening to music, singing along, andgiggling and correcting herself when she accidentally sang the wrong lyrics. He recognized the song she was listening to, it was one that he loved. Of course she loved the same music as him, she was made for him. He knew she was made for him, he had known it since the day they had met.

He had been dreading the day his new neighbor moved in, the eventual greeting he'd have to give to seem polite. He wasn't really a people person, he much preferred to be left alone. And his last neighbor had merely soured his enthusiasm for meeting this new one even more. They'd never bring him his mail if it was accidentally delivered to their house, and some packages he ordered that had accidentally been delivered to them had ended up as theirs. He'd never forget the day he saw the creep wearing a set of earrings he had ordered for himself. He hadn't even known what to say and so just scoffed, flicked the ash that had begun to form on the tip of his cigarette off, dropped the remainder of it to the ground, and crushed it under his foot before he headed inside.
He wished he lived away from everyone;  completely alone.

That all changed when he saw her. She was a short and chubby girl and god, he found that adorable, he had never found a girl adorable before. Her skin was pale, her hair was long and it was just beautiful to him, it was this shade of light auburn, if he could describe it that way, that he just loved. And she had these beautiful brown eyes that made him melt.
She was wearing a black dress, a belt around her waist, and dark flats. Her lips were painted black and her brown eyes were highlighted by dark eyeshadow. She was carrying a box, which was to be expected given she was moving in.
And to think, for years he had thought that love, at first sight, was nothing but a bullshit cliche, but damn was he wrong to think that.
When those dark eyes looked up at him, sensing his gaze, she clumsily adjusted the box to be held mainly by her arms and waved a small hand, smiling at him. With a shy smile, he waved back.
