Why Me?

Now it's the 16th of August or as many dread- the first day of the new school year. This is my first year of high school. Which means it goes longer and starts later. School never really bothered my but it gets me out of the house and away from AJ. AJ is what I call my rude step dad who abuses me.. I put a tank top on then slide a black hoodie over top of the tank top. I slip into by black denim shorts. Put socks on then slides converse on. I straighten my hair and slips my hood on. I walk upstairs and grab my backpack and skip breakfast and put a piece of gum in my mouth. As I heard to the door I feel my arm getting pulled. I look bad and it's my step dad. "AJ. I have to get to school." I moaned. "Shut up you slut. You don't go anywhere dressed like that you little attention whore." Made a big mistake. I pull arm away and run out of the house bout half way to school I quit and just start walking. I get to school and I pick up my schedule in the main office and see I have art first. This kid runs into me and he says hes lost so I look at his schedule and we have all of the same classes. "I'm James" he said. "I-I'm Taylor" as we settle down in art Mrs. Shae starts taking attendance "Kenzie?" I slowly raise my hand. James looks at me. "Kenzie Taylor" I say as I look at him. After we finish the school day it was a pretty good first day. I start to walk home and as I reach my street I see James.. I wave back. I place my hand on the doorknob and I walk into see my red faced step dad. "You're late Kenzie." Normally when people call me Kenzie they are my best friend and the last time someone called me that was in fourth grade but when AJ calls me Kenzie he's gonna kill me. "I-I'm sorry I had to talk to someone." "Who your new boy toy." I try to walk away and it works. As I get downstairs I change into my long T-shirt and compression shorts and slide into bed and fell asleep under covers.
