Detective Grant's Point of View:
Two Years Later
"That is why the department will be establishing the organized crime task force to prevent another corrupted official and criminal mastermind from holding our city in a chokehold." I say into the mic on the podium in front of hundreds of flashing lights, cameras, and people.
I was holding a press conference to talk about the changes the police department was taken now that I became police commissioner.
"All questions will be answered by police chief Swanson, thank you." I say stepping down. Allowing for my new right-hand man, Declan Swanson, to speak.
"That was good boss, the speech provides a firm solidarity with the city and gains your reputable favor." My assistant says, making notes on her notepad.
"Thanks, Annika. I hope the new implements we have in place do some good finally." I say to her as we get into the car to head back to the office.
After the take down of one Elijah Morris Franklin, my good work was noticed, and I was promoted to police commissioner. Especially since the last one was arrested for being a part of Elijah Franklin's operation.
"I believe they will, sir. Now you have a meeting with the FBI director. You also have a meeting with your Liaison officer about the new community outreach programs..." Annika rambled on and on about my schedule, and I let my mind drift to thoughts of my dead wife and child.
I should be going home to them and enjoying family time with them now that I have made it to my dream. Getting their revenge for their deaths helped close a chapter but left my heart yearning for more.
We arrived at my office to see Fiona waiting for me inside. My liaison officer is also waiting for me, and I wonder what brought Fiona in.
"Commissioner, it's good to see you, Robert." Fiona says as she holds out her hand for a handshake.
"Come on Fiona we go way back no need for handshakes." I say to her as I give her a hug.
"Commissioner, my name is Jacqueline, and I am your Liaison officer do you want to start the meeting now or after you speak with the new District Attorney?" Jacqueline says as I shake her hand.
"Could you wait for a few minutes, I am sure the District Attorney has something she wants to talk about. You can wait in the wait area, and I will let you know when I am done." I say to Jacqueline who shows herself out.
"Hm you're the big boss now Robert." Fiona says and I noticed she has cut her hair a few inches and lighten it to a honey brown.
"I guess, but I will always make time for you Fiona. Congratulations on the promotion I think you would be a great District Attorney. What brings you into my office today?" I asked her as she smiles at me before she sits down in front of my desk.
"Thanks, you're support helped pushed it through and the fact you got my old boss fired. I am glad to hear you will make time, I wanted to celebrate our promotions and catch up with an old friend. What would you say to dinner at my place around eight tonight?" Fiona says and I am a bit taken aback by her invitation.
"I would say that I would love to come by, need me to bring anything?" I asked her and it was the glint in her eyes that made me smirk. She seems to be checking me out as I have checked her out many times before. Our jobs have caused a semi-hostile work environment, but Fiona was always one person I was close to other than Luis and Paul.
"Wine would be okay and also a pleasant demeanor is always welcomed." She says standing up to get ready to leave and I laughed.
"I won't be on the job Fiona so of course I will be pleasant. I will see you tonight." I say to her interested in the prospect of what could grow between us.
