4. The start of something?

He was a criminal

Emerald shivered at the realization before looking to Discord again "i suppose you're right.." he bit his lip in frustration, before groaning out loud "Fine! You can stay, just- don't get too close to me, makes me nervous.." he grumbled. Discord clapped his hands together excitedly "Ohhh! I knew you'd say yes! This means we're best friends now!" He cheered as confetti pooped from the roof and landed into Emeralds mane.

He shook it off with a smirk, he had to say Discord was..fairly funny. He sighed before asking "you have the elements, now what?" He asked as Discord proofed them away "I keep them in my own special dimension!" He smiled, it still felt evil but no worries, Emerald felt atleast somewhat safe, somewhat..

It really didn't make much sense, but discord never did make any sense. Emerald found himself a bit comfortable, perhaps it was because the creature had saved him from some type of punishment. Either way Emerald had a small smile on his face and he trotted by Discord with a slight tilt to his head "ah, so you do have somewhere to go" this had Discord scoff "just because its my dimension doesn't mean I live there." Emerald rolled his eyes.

"If you are staying here that means I need to go get extra groceries." He sighed as he went for the door, but Discord stopped him "Wait." His voice was cold, Emeralds comfort dissipated into a pit in his stomach "If you leave, You could tell someone I'm here." He growled as Emerald began to sweat "I-I did the crime with you! Wouldn't that get me in trouble aswell?" He asked with a waver in his tone.

Discords dark eye looked the pony over, taking in every bit of him. He then smirked as he snapped his fingers "there. Now you're bonded with me." Emeralds ears pinned back at those words "wh-what?" He questioned as Discord got himself comfortable "Are you deaf, I said you're bonded to me. Simply means, you do anything I can sense it. I will be able to sense if you decide to betray me." He spoke as he glanced to Emerald who gulped at the new fact.

"So...Does this mean I can go?" He asked sheepishly as Discord just gave him a look "of course it does! Get on with whatever you were planning!" He waved the pony off as Emerald sighed and headed out. Groceries were always a chore but if he had a new roommate he supposed he needed to get more.

He trotted down into Ponyvillle paying no mind to the panic every wore as they had found out Discord escaped, he felt it was better to pretend he was innocent then to stay out of view, that would just make him suspicious. He hummed as he felt the dirt and rocks on his hooves.

He approached the market, he found it quieter then normal but he saw this as an easier way to get back home! He went around collecting everything in a bag and giving bits to the stalls of which a few were missing attendees. He shrugged if off and went on with his shopping.

At some point he stopped, his ear flicked up as he heard crying, he went off to find the source while leaving his bag behind. Whatever it was had to be in pain and he felt the need to help. He trotted around before finding a small yellow and red pony with a big pink bow in the back crying at an apple stand. He stood there, quiet as the filly noticed him with a small yelp. "W-what are ya' doin', didn't ya' hear? Discord is free" he nodded before sitting down next to the filly "I have heard, what are you doing here?" He asked as the filly wiped tears from her eyes "I-I was helpin' mah' sister with the stall a-and she got word of Discord a-and her friends ran off, and everypony panicked...I was scared.." She choked as Emerald nodded.

He stood up again with a hoof outstretched "come on little lady, let's get you home" he smiled as the filly took his hoof and got herself up. She followed as Emerald made his way back to get his bag, and off they went to the fillys home.

While trotting along the filly spoke "mah' name is Applebloom, maybe ya' know my sister,  Applejack?"  The name definitely rung a bell but Emerald couldn't put a face to the name, he nodded to her as the continued. She began to tell him stories of her and her friends, from a concert to everything else. She seemed to be cheering up the more she spoke.

"Ah! Here it is!"  They stopped at the entrance to sweet apple acres, Emerald nodded with a smile "Thank ya' mister!" She smiled as she galloped to the house in the orchard. Emerald sighed, he decided now he should return home, maybe his new "soul bestie" missed him. Oh who was he kidding, Discord probably wouldn't care if he fell into a pit acid, let alone if he didn't come home.

Once he was back he found Discord by the door excitedly bouncing "ooohh! What did you buy me, I do hope it's beauty products, it takes so much to look this amazing" he put his paw and claw under his face and blinked rapidly. Emerald stifled a laugh as he put down his bag with a sigh "I just got extra food, I also got a few books, incase you Unironically eat paper." He saw just for a moment Discords eyes light up but only for a split moment.

Discord dug through the bag his tail whipping around as Emerald settled him down on the couch, tucking his hooves underneath him with a gentle sigh. Discord looked back to him with a bit of a puzzled look, but after his moment thought he went back to searching, and before he knew it, Emerald found sleep enveloping him.

"Crystal"
Emerald stirred in his sleep
"Crystal eyes~"
He opened his eyes slowly to find Discord up in his face, he yelped as he quickly raised his face from his hooves, however he calmed down when he remembered earlier, he sighed but was cut off before anything was said "I have something I want to show you." Discord smiled smugly as he crossed his arms. Emerald blinked a bit before looking outside, dawn, cloudy but dawn.

"What time is it?" He asked groggily as Discord looked around quickly "6 in the morning, BUT! I promise it's worth it my dear" he spoke the last part gently as he offered out his paw, Emerald took it confusingly as he was ripped off the couch and into Discords arms, he found himself here a lot lately.

But soon they were outside, just before Emerald could get mad at his house guest for going out, they were in the air, going high above. Emerald gasped as Discord laughed, finding joy in the shock in Emeralds eyes and the wind between his wings. He looked down to Emerald "This isn't the surprise yet!" He smiled wide as Emerald looked to him nervously.

It was just a moment but Discord soon rested them both on a cloud as he set Emerald down and got cozy, stretching himself over the cloud like a cat after a nap. Emerald snickered before looking around "so...why are we here?" He asked as Discord pointed behind Emerald.

Emerald turned with a gasp, the sunrise, he had never seen it this closely. He sat there astonished, it was, beautiful. He turned to Discord excitedly as he tossed himself over the draconequus, he laughed giddily as he looked around, admiring everything "This is amazing! This is so cool!" He finally sounded comfortable, not like he was on the edge of tears, like maybe he was a friend.

He turned his head to Discord as the draconequus had his eyes closed, he smiled "are we friends?" He asked as Discords eyes shot open as he sat up slightly, he blinked a few times, as if this itself was a dream and now he would wake up.

Emerald just sat there with a small smile as his ears pinned down, Discord let out a pfft sound as he waved his paw "yeah sure, I suppose if that's what you want to call it." He scoffed as Emerald just smiled "okay then! Thank you for showing me this!"

"Maybe you aren't that bad afterall."
