"I can't believe that Ella hired him!" I said angrily.
"I can't believe it either," Evie said, still looking at him.
"You, are you okay?" he said, looking at me.
"Fine," I said, glaring at him. I knew I wasn't okay but I wasn't gonna let this guy know.
"Good. By the way, I'm Ethan," he said, holding his hand out. Why was he being nice?
"I know that from when you threw me into the sea last night!" I replied angrily.
"Ah, it was you, wasn't it?" he smirked.
"So, you're the new guy?" Evie asked to interrupt the tension between us. "I'm Evie, nice to meet you, Ethan"
"Cool, happy to meet you, Evie," he replied, smiling at her. That jerk! I cleared my throat.
"What? What is it that you want to add? Huh?" he asked, obviously getting irritated by my gesture.
"What is it with you and the rude comments, huh?" I asked him. He paused for a second then answered.
"I just don't like you," he said, shrugging.
"Well, I don't like you either," I stated, trying to hold my anger. He obviously didn't get the hint because he kept insulting me.
"You're such an arrogant asshole," I replied, grinning.
"If you could settle down a bit, I'd be grateful," he said, still smiling.
"If you could shut your mouth, I'd be grateful," I replied.
"You're a real bitch, you know that?" he said, still smiling at me.
"You're such a smug bastard," I replied, grinning. I called for my sister. I'd not let this dude insult me in my sister's bakery. "Ella, this guy is such an idiot!" I complained.
"What did you say?" she asked annoyed.
"I said that this guy is such an idiot," I replied.
"What did he do?" she said, looking at Ethan.
"He's a real jerk," I replied, glaring at him.
"Jerk?" Ella said, looking at him.
"Yep," I said, looking at him as well.
"Jerk?" she said, looking at him again.
"Yep," I replied, still looking at him.
"Ella, I'm the new guy," he said, showing Ella his I.D.
"Oh yes, Ethan, I remember you. Welcome to the bakery," she said, smiling. "Now, everybody back to work please!"
Ethan and I looked at each other and then walked to our corners. I sat on my counter and looked at the stock market. I really wanted to punch him. But, as usual, I didn't. Be nice to the customer, remember? But wait, he's no customer, he works here now! Ha! Ugh, I won't, I won't.
We actually had to get cooking if we wanted to finish the cake for the noon order. I didn't mind though; I love my job. I set the ovens to the right temperature, put the batter into the oven, and watched it bake. It smelled delicious, but I had to be on my guard. If what I'm doing looks good, I know that this guy will say it's horrible. I can't let him get away with that, I have to be as nice as I can. "I'm a nice girl, I'm a nice girl" I chanted in my head. I pretended to not notice that Ethan was watching me, but I did. I knew that he was trying to see if I was doing something wrong. I tried to be as innocent as I could. I was doing everything well, and I knew it. I was baking the perfect wedding cake and, at the same time, rearranging the pastries in trays.
