The next morning, Michael woke up to the sound of his grandma bustling around in the kitchen. He got out of bed and got dressed, feeling a sense of embarrassment wash over him as he thought about the Goodnites he was wearing. He knew his grandma had seen him in them, and he knew she would see him in them again tonight. He didn't want to think about it, but he knew he had to face it.
He walked into the kitchen and found his grandma making pancakes. "Good morning, sweetie," she said, smiling. "I thought you might like pancakes for breakfast." Michael nodded, feeling a sense of hunger wash over him. He hadn't had pancakes in a long time, and they looked delicious.
"Thanks, grandma," he said, sitting down at the table. She placed a plate of pancakes in front of him, and he dug in. They were fluffy and delicious, and he felt a sense of comfort and familiarity wash over him. He didn't want to think about the fact that he was in his grandma's house, and that he was wearing Goodnites. He just wanted to enjoy his pancakes.
After breakfast, his grandma suggested they go out to the park. Michael agreed and they went to the park. His grandma brought a blanket and a picnic lunch. They sat on the blanket and ate sandwiches while watching the other people play. Michael was enjoying himself, but he felt a sense of embarrassment when his grandma offered him a sippy cup filled with juice. He pushed it away and said "I'm not a baby, grandma" and she just smiled and said " I know sweetie, but it's just for fun."
As the day went on, Michael's grandma continued to treat him like a little kid. She offered to push him on the swings, and even wanted to go down the slide with him. Michael tried to push back a little, but he didn't want to hurt her feelings. He knew she was just trying to help him, and he knew she loved him. He didn't want to disappoint her.
As the sun began to set, they headed back home. Michael's grandma suggested they take a bath before bed, and Michael agreed. He knew he needed to get cleaned up before he put on his Goodnites. As he sat in the bathtub, he couldn't help but feel a sense of embarrassment wash over him. He didn't want his grandma to see him like this, but he knew she had seen him like this before. He knew she had seen him in Goodnites before, and he knew she would see him in Goodnites again tonight. He didn't want to think about it, but he knew he had to face it.
After the bath, Michael's grandma helped him into his Goodnites. He felt a sense of embarrassment and shame wash over him as she pulled the Goodnites up over his legs and fastened them around his waist. He knew he needed the Goodnites, but he didn't want his grandma to know that he was still wetting the bed at his age. He was almost 13, and he felt like he should have grown out of it by now.
"There you go, sweetie," she said, smiling. "Now, let's get you into bed. You must be tired from our day out." Michael nodded, feeling a sense of exhaustion wash over him. He climbed into bed and his grandma pulled up the covers. "Goodnight, sweetie," she said, kissing him on the forehead. "I love you."
"Goodnight, grandma," Michael said, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort wash over him. "I love you too." She turned off the light and closed the door, leaving Michael alone in the darkness. He lay there in the silence, feeling a sense of frustration and resentment wash over him. He didn't want to be treated like a little kid, but he knew he had to give in to his grandma's babying if he wanted to have a comfortable summer. He closed his eyes and tried to fall asleep, but his mind was racing with thoughts of his parents' divorce and the fact that he was still wetting the bed.
As the days went by, Michael's frustration and resentment grew. He didn't want to be treated like a little kid, and he didn't want to wear Goodnites anymore. He wanted to be a normal teenager, but he knew that wasn't possible. He knew he had to face the fact that he was a bedwetter and that he needed the Goodnites. He also knew that he had to face the fact that his grandma was trying to help him, and that he had to give in to her babying if he wanted to have a comfortable summer. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he also knew it would be worth it.
