First Day Of School

"Elle! Wake up! You don't want to be late on your first day!" I wake up on August 18th to hear my mom calling my name, and groan as I roll out of bed. "Coming" I yell irritated as I stand up and walk downstairs.

"Elle! It's 7 o'clock! Your bus picks you up at 8:05! You'd better be quick." I shrug and grab a bowl, spoon, cereal, and milk and quickly fix myself a quick bowl of cereal.

"Sooo?" My mother pestered me as I sat down and shoveler the Fruity Pebbles into my mouth. "So?" I ask her, repeating the question I wasn't understanding how she wanted me to respond. My mother rolls her eyes and smiles at me, leaning strangly close to me. "It's your first day of your junior year! Are you excited?" I shrug. "That I only have one more year after this one in that hell-hole, yes. About school starting again, definitely not." My mother raises an eyebrow and rolls her eyes, folding her arms all simultaneously as I finish my bowl of cereal and put my bowl and spoon in the sink after rinsing them. "It's not that bad, honey." My mother says. "Try it." I say, and walk up to my room to get ready.

I throw on a pair of Adidas that I'd had since my freshman year, and were starting to give out, but not badly enough that they needed to be replaced yet.

Next I slide a firm-fitted tank top and black jeans before walking over to the bathroom to do my makeup.

I pull out my eyeshadow palette and look at the almost empty section that was a dark gray colour, and I apply the mysterious powder to my eyelids, and put on eyeliner and mascara right after.

I had made it to the bus and to school on time, (barely), and met up with Emily outside the doors. "Heyyy!" She shouts. She had always been the more chipper one between the two of us, and also happened to be the straight one.

Emily was like a sister to me, I'd known her since the summer after 6th grade and she's helped me through so much. She was one of the people who convinced me to come out, and somehow she made the whole process 10x easier.

Last year on the last day of school, I had made the decision to come out to my whole grade, figuring it'd be easier than to hide it, have someone find out, and then spread rumours about it. I hadn't exactly heard what had been talked about yet, because we haven't been in school since May. But I could already tell this was going to be rough; I've already seen about 3 people laughing and staring at me to their friends.

"Em are you sure that was the best idea?" Emily looks at me with confusion. "Was what the best idea?" I was a little confused as to why she didn't know what I was thinking, and then I remembered that we weren't exactly talking about it. "Coming out." I say quietly and she gives me a reassuring look. "Elle it'll be fine. It's not going to be the end of the world. Besides; I'll be here for you the whole way through."

I had been through my first few classes of the day, and it was now time for lunch. Emily and I vouched to sit against the window at a two-person table, and just watch the cars drive by outside. "How's your day going?" She asked me, and I shrugged. "Meh. Social studies sucks ass, math is okay, and music tech was pretty good. How bout you?" I respond. It was true, nothing too interesting besides getting stared at had happened all day, and I doubted it would. Just another plain day of school, just like the last two years of high school had been. "It was pretty good. First period was math, and you're right, the teacher's pretty nice. And then science, oh dear god science. The teacher literally said she hates kids." I furrow my eyebrows and lean across the small table we were eating at. "Then why the fuck is she a teacher??" Emily shrugs and I lean back in my chair. "She said she loves science but she's not smart enough about it to be a scientist but she wanted to do something with it." My jaw was dropped. "WHAT?!" Emily shrugs again and slaps her hands to her thighs. "Who knows."

Just then the bell rang, and off we were to science.

Science went just as Em had said, though having choir right after helped the situation a lot. Our teacher was amazing and sarcastic, probably around 50.

Now that we'd finished though, it was now time for Language arts.  Emily and I split ways again after choir and I walked into the classroom, plopping my bag down at an empty seat in the corner of the room.

But when I looked up, I saw the most beautiful, elegant, gorgeous blue eyes ever, and platinum blonde hair that looked as if it was made for her head. I quickly got distracted from whatever I was doing, just staring at the gorgeous teacher in the front of the class.

Lucky for me, I was one of the older ones in the grade, and was 18, as of two months ago. The teacher looked as if she was maybe 20-21, and she walked so elegantly, yet so witty. She had an immense sense of sarcasm, and I soon found myself with the bell ringing and me having no work done.

"Um...Ms. Hardman?" I ask and walk up to the gorgeous lady's desk. "Yes Elle?" My stomach turned. She knew my name. I then reminded myself to not get too excited about it, considering that she should know my name, she is my teacher after all. "Um...I was a bit confused with this paper...is there any way that you could maybe help me?" She nods and smiles at me. "Sure. Meet me in the study hall at 12:30pm tomorrow. I'll be there." I smile. "Will do. Thank you Ms. Hardman!" I shout before grabbing my bag and leaving the room so that she didn't see the redness my face was experiencing.

Welp, this school year just got a lot more interesting.
